Plain white baby clothes

Ok so call me Boring if you like but i love the color white i think its easy to wash no worrying about colors running or decals fading or coming off etc etc BUT i was wondering if there is any one else out there like me who thinks the same it seems if i dress my my child in all white babygro's for the first 12 months or until walking age then i might seem a tad weird lol also i think babies should'nt be dressed in bright colours and weird outfits anyway its kinda like turning them into an accessory when i see babies in bright clothes and those annoying cloth shoes (which are so pointless) i just think well why dont you just put a couple of handles on your baby and tote them around like a handbag may aswell lol am i the only one who thinks this way babies just look so cute and scrummy by themselves they dont need anything else to make them cute IMO......discuss

I completely agree with you!! I had white babygros and vests, and then soft colours for ds. I don't understand why people want them to look like little people when they are gorgeous babies. Also surely babygros are the most comfortable and warm things for them, not ridiculous dresses or pretend trainers!! Yuck!!

I don't see a problem with colour tbh. But it's your choice.

I dressed both my children in bright colours because that's what I like. I wear lots of bright colours myself. I deliberately avoided pink and frilly for dd / blue with cars on for dd and cartoons on anything. But that is what I like. I am not that keen on white baby clothes because of poo/sick/food stains and I am a bit slovenly with washing and never really sort it properly so would never have got round to doing a seperate white wash. Both mine were early crawlers, so knees would have got grubby pretty quick too!. But that is me. I certainly don't consider my children's clothes to be more important than them! Even at 5, DS's favourite clothes colour is orange and he looks great in his royal blue school jumper. Dd, 2, likes purple and red best!

I agree with you about shoes for non walking babies though.

Is this your first child? I get where you're coming from but you may find white isn't all that practical..!

yaay im not a mad woman haha phew i do also like "block colors" like just plain colours with no prints or anything on them and stripes are kind of cute i just have an obsession wiith white haha i love laundry and i like doing it straight away so think my whites will stay white for a little while swifey how long did it take for your whites to go umm not white haha and what brands did you use ive been looking at the myfirst range in mothercare them seem ok for the price

I'm expecting baby number 3 & if I had my way it would be in white baby grows & knitted cardigans till it's about 6months...think I might have to compromise with DH

Now that DS has white polo shirts for school, and DH has a much more officey job, I do now actually of a white wash once a week for their shirts, and anything else white than needs going. We even have a separate white washing basket. This is serious A Level laundry for me.

White is super practical til you start weaning. Easy to bleach out the poo stains. It gets a bit boring though. My mum knitted some cute cardies in bright colours with contrasting buttons. After we started weaning I went for brighter colours / patterns whilst avoiding logos/ writing/ vehicles. But still very much in baby grows. I liked the multipacks from John Lewis in bright red/ green/ turquoise. Ds2 is 15 months and still wearing them (not walking yet).

I just bought a beautiful all white lace dress from mamas and papas and do love babies in white, esp as my partner is Italian so dd1 has beautiful olive skin, however, I wont buy all white things as I have learnt that white isn't very practical, so just buy a few lovely white things for when people come over etc, I don't have a problem with bright colours on babies but do love pastels, ditsy florals and old fashioned smock dresses :) xx

ooh i love knitted baby clothes so adorable i try to knit myself those patterns look so easy until you start haha can buy knitted clothes on ebay and etsy though so i dont mind it not being made by me

i love smock dresses and mary jane shoes haha its what i want to dress my daughter in one day but smock dressed are soo tricky to make and expensive too :(

whoo hoo go bikerunski i love doing white washes more the anything else laundry wise haha something about a soapy 60-90c wash that is so soothing to me also plan on bleaching white baby gros and stuff but worried about chemical residues think id have to do some rinse washes after to put my mond at ease

Most of the white stuff I bought for dd is now food stained or grey so I prefer bright colours.

I agree with you about putting them in babygrows not little outfits though

Ahh I love all the old fashioned little nighties and everything, my dd1 has long waist length curly hair and looks like shes from the 50s lol x I love sarah louise dresses and theres a beautiful dress shop near where I live that does bespoke dresses at pretty reasonable prices so I get her some bits like that in there, though when we have a lazy day she does just lounge in leggings and a tshirt lol x

wondering where i can get good priced multipacks of white that last john lewis has them tesco's has them asda has them and mothercare dont know which ones last best though dont want them to fall apart after a few boil washes

And don't even mention DP, the washing machine and a random black sock....

Next have some plain white ones. Nice quality, have in-built scratch mitts and wash really well. They seem to be a lot thicker than some cheaper brands.

Yea they are a bit pricey tho so she just has a few for when we go out n about xx and I love mothercare ones they always wash and tumbledry really well, asda and Tesco ones shrink and lose there shape, I don't think iv bought john lewis ones so cant comment on those :) x

think ill just buy a few from mothercare and some from john lewis and test them against each other then lol

I liked my babies in white too. I wouldn't buy all from one shop to start off with as they are all slightly different proportions and you'll learn which fit your baby best. IMO next and mothercare are quite short limbed, tesco and John lewis are a bit longer and leaner, asda are huge all over. I didn't notice much difference quality wise - supermarket ones lasted as well as john lewis etc. Next are a bit thicker.
Look out for ones with built in scratch mits - these are fab.

I like the idea of dressing a baby like a baby for as long as possible. Plus there's nothing I like more than lounging around wearing stretchy, warm, soft pyjamas, so I reckon babies prefer that kind of thing.

It's not that I don't like the look of jeans on a baby, or sequins, glitter, zips etc, I just think it must be a bit uncomfy.

(But I'm the kind of person who never wears jeans or a bra in the house! Poor boyfriend :/ )

John Lewis quality much better than Mothercare! Mothercare is supermarket quality at JL prices.

Another vote here for Next
