My mw today has said i'm measuring 2 weeks+ than I actually am. (I am 34 weeks and she says i'm 36+ weeks).

If you had this did your baby come early (sitting here with fingers crossed)!!!

nope, same time. The measurements are only a guide and often wrong tbh!
don't get your hopes up!

hairymclary · 09/08/2006 14:54

I was measured big but my baby was 2 weeks late

beckybrastraps · 09/08/2006 14:55

Babies came late (10 and 11 days) and were big (9.7 and 9.10).

Have fun!

mustrunmore · 09/08/2006 14:56

Iwas huge, and 11 days over.

nowanearlyNicemum · 09/08/2006 14:56

no, late for me too - sorry
all the best though...

nailpolish · 09/08/2006 15:08

i was very big too for the dates

babies were late (10 days late and 1 day late)

MW gave a no. of reasons-

im only 5' so everything went out instead of up

i had gallons and gallons of fluid

etc

babies weights were 7lb 6oz and 7lb 2oz, so not big babies in the end, despite big measurements

hth

I was huge, really really big - measured +5 weeks with DD. She was 3 weeks early (C-Section) and 9lbs so she would have been a bunter if she had of gone term

NomDePlume · 09/08/2006 16:03

I was bigger too. DD was born naturally, very quickly with the min of intervention at 37+5wks, weighing 7lbs 1oz

madmarchingforfreedomhare · 09/08/2006 16:03

I always measured a couple of weeks further on. DS was almost 2 week overdue, weighing in at 7.14.

bluejelly · 09/08/2006 16:32

They told me my baby was 'a monster' and 'huge'
had loads of scans
She was 8.8 lbs
Big but not staggering slow

1Baby1Bump · 09/08/2006 16:37

i wasnt measuring big but ds1 came a week early at 9.9

i am measuring big this time, 2 weeks ahead like you but had a scan and they said normal amt of water and baby measuring about a week ahead so dont worry.

im still secretly hoping he will come earlier though.

dreamydowler · 09/08/2006 17:15

I wasnt told I was big last time but dd was 9lb 1oz 2 days early this time I have been measuring 2-3 weeks ahead at every appointment and have had to have growth scans. They have said baby will be on about 80th centile but arent worried. Got three weeks left and really feeling heavy although dont look as big somehow hoping I go about a week early though. My sister wasnt told she was measuring big either although she did look bigger than me and had her baby boy 4 days late at home with no pain relief weighing in at 9lb 12oz I think its all guess work and wouldnt worry too much

Ags · 09/08/2006 18:16

Told me ds was measuring +3 weeks. He was induced on due date and was 9lbs 4oz. Also told me dd was measuring +3 weeks. She was delivered by c section 1 week early and was only 7lbs 7 oz.

You just can't rely on this method.

Scoobydooooo · 09/08/2006 18:19

I was fine with ds i was actually measuring smaller, but with dd i was 2 weeks ahead & wnt into labour on my due date she was born next morning weighinh 7lb 14ozs.

pol26 · 09/08/2006 19:51

Am hoping that he comes early as i've had enough of being preg with a nearly 2yr old DD and an un-understanding DP!!!

Beauregard · 09/08/2006 19:52

I measured 2 weeks big for dates all the way through with dd2 and she was 4 days late!

TuttiFrutti · 09/08/2006 21:22

I was huge last pregnancy, and although ds was a big baby at 9lb 8oz, the main reason for my size was fibroids. They swell up with the pregnancy hormones and mine were the size of grapefruits by the end. Don't want to worry you pol26, but if you've ever had any other sypmtoms of fibroids like heavy periods it might be worth getting this checked out.

cece · 09/08/2006 21:26

got to 42 weeks and ds was over 11 lbs...

Nemo1977 · 09/08/2006 21:27

measured big with ds..born 15 days over weighing 9lb1

measured very big with dd..born on due date weighing 6lb14.

Just shows measuring big may not mean anything. With dd there was a lot of water.

pol26 · 09/08/2006 21:38

I had a fibroid during my first scan measuring 3.5x4cm.... didn't find anythign during my second scan at 23+ weeks though.

Do you think I should ring mw tomorrow and ask her or leave it til my next app in two weeks time?

OP posts:
Elibean · 09/08/2006 23:23

I measured two weeks ahead with dd1, and she was 7lbs 7oz. They thought she might be big, and scanned me at 38 weeks, but no....just too much fluid (nearly drowned the surgical team during eventual section)

TuttiFrutti · 10/08/2006 08:56

Pol, I would leave it till your next appointment because it's not an urgent thing. If you had a fibroid at your first scan, I can't believe it would have gone away by the time of your second - maybe it just wasn't spotted by the sonographer? My grapefruit-sized fibroids were missed both times at my scans last time.

Littlefish · 10/08/2006 09:44

I was told that my baby would be big - on the 90th centile at least (which I think would have made her 9lbs ish). When she was born, she weighed 6lbs 10!!!! So the measurement was complete rubbish in my case.

oliveoil · 10/08/2006 09:46

I was huge and mine were 9lb 10 and 9lb 5

both 2 weeks late

angelaj1 · 20/08/2006 21:34

friend of mine was told all the way through she was measuring on the big size - her baby was avergae weight on arrival so don't be too worried
