Empty sac at early scan

I have been to a scan today- am 6 weeks pg. Went because of spotting which turned into brown bleeding (mainly) for the last week with intermittent light cramping. She could only see a sac, nothing else. The sonographer said it could either be the start of a MC or just because it's too early to see. She said she's seen it go either way. I've had early scans before and seen a HB at this stage, so am not overly hopeful
Has anyone any advice or experience on this, please? I am due to have a rescan in two weeks time- which feels like forever away

She does think she can see something, just difficult to 'get to'. She said that it wasn't that unusual. Different sonographer. No, my dates are not out. Not booked with a MW yet. No, they did not do bloods.

You need to see the midwife hun. Where abouts are you from?

Not a lot of point really booking in yet if I'm not sure pg is viable. Think I'm just gonna have to wait it out til a week Friday, again- MW couldn't do much apart from refer me for a scan which I'm due anyway

princessscrummy. that's exactly what happened to me. EXACTLY levels went up not by much told mc/ectopic went. for scan again and twins :)

I also had them say they couldn't see anything etc. I went for loads of scans. its a awful wait

Can you remember how far you were when they finally saw something, ladywholunches? I am heartened by others that have been through the torturous waiting games

Are you still taking your vitamins and avoiding certain foods?. I had an abdominal scan privately at 6weeks 5days cause I was worried it was an ectopic pregnancy as I was in a lot of pain and then another scan at 8 weeks internally with the nhs. If you see your midwife or gp they may do bloods to check your hormone level or offer advice or support. Maybe your not as far along as you think and baby is still too small. I was a week out :) I only know cause I've had scans and baby is measuring a week behind what I thought I was using date of last period

I know that there were only 2 dates 2 days apart when we Dtd and I know my cycle would have been a shorter one.. But then shit happens and I could be a few days out, who knows
I just don't want to see a MW until it's confirmed okay, yk?

Tbh I would like them to do an abdo scan aswell because even though I'm aware transvaginal scans are good, I wonder if having a look from both sides, as it were, might be a good idea

Good as long as your behaving like your pregnant. Cause stranger things have happened your dates. I still do pregnancy tests every few days. I'm so nervous about my scan in ten days. Keep thinking I won't be pg anymore. Are you having symptoms still?

Hi as people have said it could go either way. Have you been on the misdiagnosed miscarriage website? It's not unheard of for baby to be hiding. For me, I had an empty sac at 6 weeks and went back and 8 and was still empty, for me it was a blighted ovum and I had to have an erpc in the end. X

Sorry your dates might be wrong* or baby might be behind the yolk sack

I had all that happen with my first pregnancy. Flaming huge clots of blood. I was convinced I'd miscarried and the 10 day wait after the first scan was probably the longest 10 days of my life.

11 years on it's a belligerent 10yo who is just getting ready for bed.

Oh - and nothing at all was visible via a transabdominal scan, as the uterus is still pretty well buried, at that point.

Downstairsmixup- Had a (reluctant) look at the misdiagnosed miscarriage website- wow, quite an eye opener- esp as I know from my previous pgs that I have a retroverted uterus..

Ah feck I need handholding
So very worried about tomorrow's scan. My symptoms have been pretty strong in the way of painful breasts, (mainly evenings) but today they've seemed to have stopped hurting
Woke up feeling like shit with tummy cramps, dodgy guts and a banging headache. It will be a month since my first scan when they saw nothing. I am all over the place now and cannot believe they will see anything tomorrow despite my symptoms strengthening since the last scan. If I go by dates of last period, I am 9 weeks 5 days today.
This is so horrible and I'm not dealing with it very well today

Catbus I can't even imagine how horrendous this has all been. I really hope you get some answers (positive ones) tomorrow. Sending love xx

Hi, I had an empty sac at 6+5 and now I'm nearly 14 weeks. I agree it's the longest 2 week wait, but I booked a private one a week later because couldn't bear it one more week. Don't lose hope yet, 6 weeks is an in between stage where it's very early to see anything xx

Thank you all. It's a missed miscarriage. The sac continued to grow but no baby. Sac now showing signs of collapse and is irregular in shape now. It's cruel because I still have pg symptoms, which didn't happen with my last MMC.
Booked in for ERPC on Weds- hoping I don't bleed before then because last time was horrific
Stupid body just doesn't get it even a month on.
