Yesterday and today I have noticed that my usual little wriggler isnt so wriggly... I've felt a couple of tiny movements, is there any thing I can do to wake her up so I know she's ok?

Please any advice - I really dont want to ring midwife, as was there on monday because i got in a state about some thing else... I already think i annoy her.

Sod annoying MW. If you're worried, phone her - it's what she's trained and paid for. Put your mind at ease and give her a call. How far along are you?

Charlee · 09/08/2006 12:02

When mine has a quiet day i try alternating between drinking and eating hot and very cold things like have a cup of hot tea then an ice lolly or something like that i was told to try it at the hospital.

twocatsonthebarricades · 09/08/2006 12:03

Drink an icy drink and sit on the sofa for half an hour. But if that doesn't work, definitely give them a call - they'll almost certainly tell you to go in.

TutterOtsky · 09/08/2006 12:05

call her!! or, alternatively, call your GP -both will have a doppler tjhey can use to check the heartbeat.

Im 31 weeks.

I went in literally 3 weeks ago, they hooked me up to the fetal monitor, and whilst the student MW was putting the straps round my tummy - baby started kicking around loads.

I feel like a nuisance though.

I shall try cold / hot things, then im going to go to bed for a while as I feel really light headed and frankly, knackered.

Any other tips?

I was in and out like a fiddler's elbow last tie i was pg with DS! They didtn mind they just do a trace for half an hour then tell you to go home, they might ask you to keep a chart of kcks through the day aswel.

Hattie05 · 09/08/2006 12:06

how many weeks are you emzickle? I'm feeling the same as you and i'm about 25 weeks. Most days i have some flutters and the odd big kick, but the last few days i havn't felt very much at all just very light flutters. I'm trying to tell myself perhaps the babies changed position so i don't feel it as much.

I may try the cold and hot thing and see what happens!

Hattie05 · 09/08/2006 12:07

oops posts crossed!

jabberwocky · 09/08/2006 12:07

Try lying on your left side. That always seems to get my lo started.

emzickle · 09/08/2006 12:07

The baby is normally so active that my ribs hurt by mid morning and when I lay down on the sofa, you can see her pushing my tummy around.

Please ring MW... please. They understand. I didnt go when I felt DS go quiet... he had a knot in his cord and it kept tightening, causing him to not move much. I wish id gone for more assesments now, but I was lucky and he never tightened it too far, and was born fine, but small. Please dont feel silly or anything...

Quootiepie · 09/08/2006 13:58

ring the hospital direct - then you dont have to talk to your MW I rung them direct and was seen and hooked up.

Quootiepie · 09/08/2006 14:00

ringing?

Charlee · 09/08/2006 14:00

Emzickle have you phoned your m/w or hospital? They wont think your bieng a pain they will think your being a caring worried mother. They see it everyday ladies coming in when there babies have gone quiet they will simply monitor you then let you go home.

Its better to be safe than sorry

GreenhamCommonSleeves · 09/08/2006 14:01

Do ring someone, emzickle. Don't worry on your own. Worrying isn't good for you or the baby. They will understand, honestly!

Iklboo · 09/08/2006 14:03

Go to Gp or midwife. Just for peace of mind. They WON'T mind!!! If a quick jog up and down your stairs doesn't help, then go.
My DS was quieter during the day, then perked up more at night. Also after eating chocolate or having the very occasional coffee.

Olihan · 09/08/2006 14:08

I'd second chocolate and if that doesn't work then ring your mw or maternity unit. They would all prefer you to be a paranoid mum than something awful happen.

Plus, sod's law says that baby will start leaping around the second you get onto the bed to be monitored so it's a sure fire way of getting it to move!!

Charlee · 09/08/2006 14:13

Let us know how your getting on Emzicle.

emzickle · 09/08/2006 14:30

right - im going to ring them, because its silly sitting here getting stressed out

emzickle · 09/08/2006 14:32

no answer (i am registered with a midwife led care place) they're only actually in the office in the morning.
now what do i do?

OP posts:
Quootiepie · 09/08/2006 14:33

ummm.... that the place your having the baby I take it? Ring your local hospital and ask to speak to their Assesment unit there...

Quootiepie · 09/08/2006 14:34

I know that Heatherwood is midwife led, but linked with the local "big" hospital... Wexham. Ring the place you'd get transfered too if you needed consultant care.

Charlee · 09/08/2006 14:35

Either that or ring your local g.p

Quootiepie · 09/08/2006 14:36

Em, is there contact numbers in your white book?
