Yesterday and today I have noticed that my usual little wriggler isnt so wriggly... I've felt a couple of tiny movements, is there any thing I can do to wake her up so I know she's ok?

Please any advice - I really dont want to ring midwife, as was there on monday because i got in a state about some thing else... I already think i annoy her.

hey - i got back from hospital at 12.30 this morning. Midwife was very nice, hooked me up to the fetal monitor, baby is moving round well, good heart rate etc, however the consultant that was on wants me to go back for an extra ultra sound scan, they dont think there is enough water around the baby or some thing?

Any one know what this may imply for my babies health, or my plan for a home birth?

My dd2 didn't have much water around her, I was closley monitoired from 30 until 39 weeks when I was induced. I never felt her move but on the monitoir could she her doing gymnastics . The hospital clerk is probably being on the safe side asking you to take your bag try so not to worry to much

They may want to keep you in for 24hrs after the scan to monitor you and then they might get you to go in to the unit during the week. I had to be monitored twice a week with ds2 and had to keep a kick chart.

Night wear
Slippers/flip flops
Wash bag (with your deodorant etc)
Underwear.

heavenis · 10/08/2006 08:56

Make a list for Dh if you are going to be in any longer than a day.
Like your underwear (mine always brought the ones at the bottom of the pile)
Take a pen with you. (you need this if you have to fill out what you want to eat)

hi emzickle. I know a girl in our antenatal group who had this who was expecting at same time as me with DD1. She was lovely. I remember her talking about all the extra monitoring to be on the safe safe, every time threatening to induce if waters got lower or baby seemed unhappy. She gave birth naturally to a gorgeous healthy baby boy. Think she had him early but no problems. Sorry I can?t be specific - was 5 yrs ago!!
Have a cuppa, watch junk tv/do anything to take your mind off lunchtime and keep your head busy. I know you prob feel quite helpless with all this but you are not! You can help your baby by taking it easy, eating and drinking plenty, trying to keep stress levels down (easier said than done I know!) and following medical advice, like you are doing, by going in and listening to the experts. You are going to the best place, they will check you out and give you the best advice possible xx

have packed my wash bag and stuff, some underwear and my new snuggly PJ's and dressing gown that bought at weekend, my sister recomends i take a couple of strap tops to wear as the maternity wards are always warm.

Good Luck

Take some books, maternity wards are soooooooo boring!

emzickle · 10/08/2006 15:29

i'm back!!!!!

and alive (YAY)

every thing is apsolutely fine and dandy... she's fine, and swimming around in the right amount of water, all good, saw her on the scan again, my DH noticed the measurement of her little tummy across was already 8cm! wow, looks more and more like a real baby, now even more impatient to meet her.

Was told last night she is head down, however she isnt, she's got one leg resting on my cervix, her head under my ribs... how odd

Quootiepie · 10/08/2006 15:31

9 weeks to go before you meet baby

Iklboo · 10/08/2006 15:31

So glad emz. Bet you feel loads better now

emzickle · 10/08/2006 15:38

yep - feel very good. even though the consultant has booked a date for me to be induced if I havent given birth at 41 weeks... very odd to me n/m.

Was funny, though -

My DH's ex girl friend had her baby yesterday at the same hospital, and we had to ride the lift down to the car park with them from the maternity ward - what were the chances!!! they were all being happy families, with a very VERY cute ickle baby in car seat, her husband all over her... made me feel slightly jealous TBH, as DH had head inside AutoTrader mag the whole time we were at hospital. git
