Yesterday and today I have noticed that my usual little wriggler isnt so wriggly... I've felt a couple of tiny movements, is there any thing I can do to wake her up so I know she's ok?

Please any advice - I really dont want to ring midwife, as was there on monday because i got in a state about some thing else... I already think i annoy her.

Go down to the maternity unit..........get it checked out.

pol26 · 09/08/2006 14:46

Don't feel like a nusiance GO IN!!! It's their job to be pestered by preg women. And after all they should understand your baby is special and precious to you.

Quootiepie · 09/08/2006 15:08

any luck?

DollyP · 09/08/2006 15:47

I had this loads with DD - was a regular at the Day assessment unit! They never minded. It's part of the care they are obliged to provide so don't feel bad.

I would second the cold drink / chocolate combo on the sofa. Often movement is small enough for you not to notice unless you are quiet and still. If still no luck in an hour, head down to the hospital.

Good luck!

thank you all for your concern -

i went down to GP and saw the on call doctor...

he was really sweet, felt my tummy, listened out for the little heart beat, (he had very soft warm hands)

I think Im now in love... so panic over. Any one know how to make chilli con carne? my mum's on holiday so i cant rign her and i cant remember...

hehehe

Quootiepie · 09/08/2006 15:55

emzickle · 09/08/2006 19:50

although I heard her heart beat earlier, i still havent felt ANY wiggles at all today... so i rang the maternity unit at local hospital, and now im about to set off down there. I still feel really guilty though as though I'll waste their time as I'm sure there is nothing wrong... Any one online with some reasurance PLEASE?

Your doing the right thing... dont feel guilty. DS went quiet loads of times and was OK (apart from knot in cord)... Youll feel better soon xxxx

Quootiepie · 09/08/2006 19:53

some people I sat next to were in and out like a fiddlers elbow (learnt that one today )You can never be a nuisense.

emzickle · 09/08/2006 19:53

Yeah it's this knotted cord thing thats really freaked me out.

Should I take any thing to hospital with me? Apart from notes I mean?

OP posts:
Quootiepie · 09/08/2006 19:55

oh, god, IM SORRY! only about 1% of babies get them and like 99% of them arent what they call "true knots". If you have a scan, maybe ask them to check cord carefully to reassure you? The midwife laughed when she saw the knot - its actually supposed to be lucky!

Quootiepie · 09/08/2006 19:56

take notes... maybe an overnight bag in car just in case? unless you can ring someone to bring stuff. I was always in and out in an hour or two though.

emzickle · 09/08/2006 19:59

well i rang my DH, asked him to promptly finish doing what ever crap he's doing in the office (which is more than likely playing around on ebay) come home, eat chilli, and drive me.... he's now in a pannic that some thing may be seriously wrong. He's not good in a crisis bless him, everything turns into a casualty story line with him around. BUT he is coming home now... just have to wait around for him.

what are they likely to do when Im there...?

Quootiepie · 09/08/2006 20:01

hook you to a monitor until they satisfy some sort of test (no. of movements or something) take wee and blood pressure. If theres nothing after about an hour, they will take blood. Not sure after that. Take a wee sample.

Charlee · 09/08/2006 20:04

They may do an internal to check for infections ect, they always did them with me for things not relating to that area.

I hope alls ok keep us posted

emzickle · 09/08/2006 20:08

im actually really crapping myself now, willing her to give me the biggest kick in the ribs... bloody DH still isnt home. i want to cry... ive never had an internal, what do they do??? (scared)

OP posts:
Quootiepie · 09/08/2006 20:11

just take swab... like a smear. i never had that though

Charlee · 09/08/2006 20:12

They might not do one!! If they do they will either ask you to put your legs in stirrupsor just part them while they shine the light down there and either insert a lubed spectrum to have a look and take swabs or insert a gloved finger to feel for anything they need to. Your covered up the whole time and they do 100's everyday. But like i said they might not do one, im just saying what the did with me.

Try and relax (easier said than done i know) its best for baby if your calm, it cant be anything TO serious as it still has a good heartbeat.
I know its hard i cried in tesco last week when baby hadnt moved all day!

You will both be fine!

Quootiepie · 09/08/2006 20:14

grrr, comp playing up. its a swab, like a smear. i never had one though

emzickle · 09/08/2006 20:14

Hugs hugs

GOOD LUCK (NOT THAT YOU WILL NEED IT)

heavenis · 09/08/2006 20:18

I had one of those with ds1 it's fine and didn't really feel anything. I'm sure once your are monitored she'll wake up. My ds2 was a so and so for doing this, not much movement and then when the monitor was on he'd kick like anything.
Good luck

Charlee · 09/08/2006 20:20

I could always garuntee with DS that he would lay perfectly still all day untill i stepped foot in the Maternity ward then he would beat the cr*p out of me from inside!

The midwifes just used to laugh it off, i knew them all by the time he was born

Quootiepie · 09/08/2006 20:27

Sorry, comp. crashed. Good Luck xxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxx
