Baby just turned breech at 34 weeks

Hi ladies, just wondering if any of u are in late pregnancy or have been and your baby was breech towards the end....and did they turn? My boy has been head down the whole way through and went for scan today and he's now head up on my rib. I know there is still time for him to move and they said they would wait until 37 weeks but am just a bit worried he may not go back to head down, I really want to experience natural birth so much x

You could try checking out the advice on the Spinning Babies website and see if that can help you turn him back?

Try to think that if he had room to turn breach at this point then he has room to turn back. I

My baby did turn at 38 weeks being breech since 32. It was such a relief because the possibility of a c-section scared me to bones. I had an emergency cesarean anyway, but by another reason:) It wasn't such a terrible experience at all and my boy was born beautiful and healthy.

My baby has been breech since 28 weeks (possibly before but that's the first time it was palpated), I am now 37 and it has not turned.

I have tried all the spinning babies positions and moxibustion but nothing, this one ain't turning on their own.

I am having an ECV on Thursday but I am sceptical that it will be successful - I just have a feeling this one is perfectly comfy with it's bottom down in my pelvis!

If your baby has only just flipped breech there is a good chance it will flip back - mine hasn't moved for weeks.

I am also getting my head around the possible loss of my natural birth experience - I had/have my heart set on MLU with hynobirthing the whole shebang. It's slipping away...

MrsMugoo ask your hypnotherapist if they can suggest help for turning the baby. Mine does and I'll be trying it if nothing else works.

Breech doesn't necessarily mean a c section though. My homebirth midwife is perfectly happy for me to try at home if he's still the wrong way up.

I have been listening to the self hypnosis CD for turning breech babies for a while now. At this stage I have tried all the natural options and have accepted baby is not going to turn on it's own - it's engaged in my pelvis now and seems to be comfy!

I have ruled out vaginal breech birth as an option as I don't want a home birth and there are no midwives at my hospital trained in breech delivery so it would a consultant led birth, delivered in theatre in stirrups etc... not what I want at all. An ELCS seems much more preferable to me than that!

If I do have to go for an ELCS I have the prepping for a c section self hypnosis to listen to.

I have just come back from an appointment and my little man has already gone back to head in pelvis he's so playing games with me lol he was only breech for 2 days mustn't have liked it, hopefully he will stay down now but have a feeling he may go back so we shall see. I had an evc, can't remember at what week, it's been a while, she's 2.8 now, 36-38 I think.

It was uncomfortable but not horrid, and it worked. Consultant had a 100% success rate!

I never hear good things about them so I like to tell my little success story when I can

DS4 did the same.

he ended up being an ELSc as he was footling breech. (evc didn't work and made me feel very ill.)

DS5 was breech for a few weeks in 3rd trimester, but turned back head down by 36 weeks scan. was VBAC

I had an ECV and hated it, hopefully it works for you, I don't recommend them though.

A word of caution on ECVs; the success rate is very variable and dependent on room - so in your case where baby has just flipped you may well get him flipped back again. Overall is about 50% whether baby flips, and they sometimes go back again. Ask about the success rate for the consultant undertaking the procedure.
My 1st pregnancy was breech, I now know flipped at about 28 weeks, stayed that way with no-one being sure which was bum and which was head. Positioning scan at 36 weeks indicated breech, booked in for ECV a few days later at 36+5. Tried all the spinning babies guff, no change (no room to turn presumably), no time for (cough) moxibustion. Baby was not for turning, ELCS booked for 38w. Had a show next morning, very rapid labour, at 7cm 3h later, rushed to theatre and delivered via EMCS a healthy baby. It was all however a bit of a shock, house still needed final clean etc. Under similar circs now I would forget the ECV and book for an ELCS at 37-38 weeks. at least that way you can plan.

I had an unsuccessful ECV yesterday. It was pretty brutal and I'm very sore today. Booked for an ELCS the week after next.

I'm still glad I have it a shot though.

When it comes to ECVs it's worth checking the Birth Choice site for your hospital's stats. If I'd needed one I would've said no as my hospital only had a 25% success rate.
