itchy raised rash on feet! any ideas?

since last weekend I have had a raised rash (almost like heat bumps) come up on my feet, between my toes and on the tops and sides. It itches like mad. Dh told me he thought it was athletes foot so I have been using an athletes foot cream for the last few days but it doesn't seem to relieve it at all.
It now seems to have spread to one of my hands around my ring finger. It is driving me crazy and I am worried now it may be smething more sinister.
Any ideas?

Could be skin thrush? I get skin thrush when pregnant. (Although it's generally a skin-fold thing) Keep it dry and cool and it should clear up?

I'd talk to your midwife or gp, though.

itchy raised rash can be ringworm. but athletes foot type cream should relieve the itching if it is that.

Could be a sign of liver problems. I am experiencing this atm and think it could be obstetric cholestasis (as i have experienced pregnancy problems in the past)

I had some thing like this on my leg above my knee - midwife said just to use eurax on it, keep it moistursed. then again the doctor pescribed me steriod creams for it - which i didnt use and its gone away any way.

get it checked out to be sure x

there's a name for this,something or other dermatitus.Will have a think.
(sorry that's a bit pathetic)

sugarfree · 09/08/2006 11:19

something or other dermititis even

sugarfree · 09/08/2006 11:19

still doesn't look right.

I had terribly itchy feet when I was pg and was really worried because I knew about Obst Cholestasis..but it turned out to be the shoes I was wearing! (non-leather linings)

LemonTart · 09/08/2006 11:21

This isn?t hand foot mouth is it? Have you got a sore throat? You don?t always get all three but is possible.
See a GP to get it checked out. xx

foxinsocks · 09/08/2006 11:21

have you shown the doctor? it could be scabies

sugarfree · 09/08/2006 11:26

Here you go,this is what it is.
(I get it...Don't panic Mr Mainwaring!!)

Nicki10 · 09/08/2006 11:41

I agree with Lemon Tart it seems like hand, foot and mouth. I suffered with it a few years back and only got the mouth and hand part. Are the like white pimples?

mabel1973 · 09/08/2006 12:53

thanks - I have been trying to call my midwife (not answering the phone as usual) Just realised that I haven't actually mentioned in my post that I am 36 weeks pg!
I am pretty sure it isn't athletes foot.
I have been wearing flip flops for the last two months constantly so can't see how a fungal infection could grow.
Haven't heard of hand foot and mouth, I don't have a sore throat though.

go and see the GP

is it really itchy? between the fingers and toes is a classic place for scabies (and then you get other raised lumps).

Calmriver · 09/08/2006 13:48

It could also be colestasis, go and get the GP to check it out ASAP. I have been tested for it twice. You can also ask them to hurry up with the results...ask nicely.x

I have spoken to a midwife this afternoon. she didn't seem partiularly concerned and just said it was probably a 'hormonal rash' what ever that means??
I am not convinced so will give it over the weekend, then go and see the doctor I think.
Thanks everyone for your advice.

I had PUPPP - (pruritic urticarial papules and plaques of pregnancy)

Basically it was a really itchy rash like you described that speread over my body during pregnancy. I was perscribed Zirtak antihystemine which was the only thing that gave me relief. Mine started at about 36 weeks too. it's harmless but very very irritating, you have my sympathy!

TuttiFrutti · 09/08/2006 21:17

Ledodgy, I had PUPP too for the last 3 weeks of my pregnancy and it made my life a misery! The itching was so bad I couldn't sleep at night, and my GP refused to prescribe anything for it (her attitude was "Oh well, you've probably only got a few more days to go") and I had to get myself admitted to hospital to get prescribed piriton, which worked really well.

Mabel, I don't think this is what you've got though, because PUPP started on my tummy and spread gradually outwards which apparently is standard.

olivo · 10/08/2006 08:51

Tuttifrutti - i think this is what i have got - it started on my bump, then hands and feet and now legs and arms. have been given hydrocortisone cream and they've done the blood test for cholestasis but think will ask for piriton when i go to find out results tomorrow. my doctor was initially dismissive as well but its like torture.

mabel - definitely go and see the doctor - mine has gone on for nearly two weeks now!

mabel1973 · 10/08/2006 10:34

I went to the doctors this morning after a really sleepless itchy night. I have got a form of excema, so have been prescribed betnovate and it has relieved the itching already. Just glad it's not scabies or worse.

Is there a prize?
Hope the cream works soon.
