Baby shower gifts

My sister is being given a surprise baby shower (I'm not asking for opinions about baby showers, I'm not a fan but I love my sis) and I don't know what to get as a gift.
We have given her all of our baby stuff and bought them a new play gym. My dh is not keen on me spending more money on her but I can't turn up empty handed. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I could get that doesn't cost the earth but will be appreciated?

Nappies! You can make some really cool presentations out of nappies and other useful things too if you google it.

Could you make some cupcakes in blue/pink/baby themed or whatever and just casually say well I didn't wanna come empty handed but I have already given you presents so thought I'd make some cupcakes for today :)

Bottle of wine for her to enjoy after the birth
Pair of slippers
Bottles of bubble bath (I went through gallons of it towards the end of my pregnancy)

Or a nice bubblebath/chocolates for afterwards - say you've already given her the baby present, so here's something for herself for after the birth.

cross post - good thinking Ken!

My mum threw me a surprise baby shower and my friend got me a box full of bits like, baby calpol, wipes, little hat, arnica cream etc which was lovely. My mum brought me a wash bag with mini bits to take to hospital which i thought was a good idea. Smile

Some great ideas, thanks! I'm loving the washbag/slippers idea.

I always get the mum to be nice handwash and handcream as you're forever washing your hands with a newborn. Plus a tube of lanisoh if they're planning on bf. Nice muslins are handy but not too expensive. .

Cross-posting with lots of people to suggest something small but thoughtful for her rather than the baby, who'll be well taken care of!

I got my sister a big fleece blanket for snuggling up on the sofa when v preg and bf. washable, see (she had hyperemesis). they didn't own one at the time. They still have it 8 years later so it must have been useful.

My friends threw a surprise baby shower for me & 2 others at the same time. One of the things they did was give us each a little plain white vest which they all wrote little messages & drew pictures with special fabric pens during the evening. Its lovely and thoughtful and cheap.

I agree with definitely giving some nice hand cream, and a decent bottle of wine for after the birth.

I went for the wash bag filled with toiletries, including hand cream. I also added some sweets and freddo's.
