Sorry to hear sad news from suzy, amazing CUTO attitude tho. fod hope you are OK and got to Mat Assessment or somewhere already. Great news from dav and on all the new posifrickintivity babies.
So my dildo-cam fest (originally booked to check for polycystic ovaries as I'd been having LP bleeding prior to BFP) was this morning. Drank my ridiculous amount of water, arrived early and sat waiting and worrying and dying far a wee. Sonographer hadn't been told (in spite of my call last week) that I was pg but that was her second Qn (after when was AF). Too early (5+0 today from both AF and ov dates) to see anything other than a single gestational sac, but at the moment I am pregnant and it is not ectopic. My ovaries apparently look normal too. Just 2 weeks til my MW appt to make it through. Positive thinking.

Pixielady83 · 04/03/2014 10:12

Fab news corpore - today you are definitely pregnant!

bakingtins · 04/03/2014 10:29

dav lovely news, another milestone ticked off Smile

corpore all good so far, today you are pregnant and everything is as it should be.

fod hope you are ok and have gone quiet because you are being checked out somewhere. Sounds like straight to hospital is the way to go.

squiz my love, you are overthinking again. Worry about it one step at a time or you will go mad.

I feel a bit meh about names too, DH has vetoed the name I wanted, and keeps suggesting names I really don't like, I don't even think he likes them, he just has a random classmates of the 70s name generator. I know we'll have to compromise, like we did for DS2, and it will be fine and after a few months I won't be able to imagine her called anything else, but this will be my only girl, and it has been such a struggle to get this far, and I just want the name I want, dammit.

JBrd · 04/03/2014 10:30

Great news dav! Hope you can relax a bit now...

Corpore yes, today you are pregnant! Will you be getting another early scan in a few weeks? Positive thinking & small steps!

I have just booked myself to get the Harmony test done at the FMC in London. The first part consists of a viability scan and taking the blood, then go back two weeks later for the blood test results and the nuchal scan.
Is there anything to say that you can't have 2 scans in one day? I've just realised that I'm going to have my NHS nuchal scan on the same day as the one at the FMC, and am now slightly worried that this might not be a good thing to do...

LondonJen · 04/03/2014 10:37

Congratulations Guff!!!! Wonderful news. Hope your little family are all well this morning.

Dav that is such great news. Really pleased for you. Hurray!

Fod take care of yourself, hope all is well.

Well that all sounds super positive to me Corpore, excellent news.

LondonJen · 04/03/2014 10:41

Oh that sounds a good step Jbrd, I am pleased as I know you really wanted to do it. I don't think 2 scans is a problem tho happy to be corrected?

CorporeSarnie · 04/03/2014 10:42

JBrd I think that is OK - if you were e.g. having an ECV or similar procedure in late pregnancy they would scan around the procedure.
All the holding onto your bladder might not be that pleasant... is there a way to move your Harmony scan, seeing as you're a paying customer for that? (although I can see being able to take one day off and get it all done would be nice). Do you mind my asking how much it costs? I'm interested but know that DH would be resistant.

squizita · 04/03/2014 11:05

Stupid question of the day. MN calendar (which I fish slapped myself into reading as I hadn't dared due to the scare):"Your uterus is now the size of a grapefruit and starting to come out of the pelvis. This means you'll be able to feel it."

What should I be feeling then? I'm getting twinges and aches, but I just feel fat and bloated.

JBrd · 04/03/2014 11:07

Corpore Apparently, you don't need a full bladder, it says so on both my NHS letter and the FMC appointment confirmation Grin
They are doing a 'special' offer at the FMC, where you get a viability scan, the Harmony test and the nuchal scan together in a package. And should they find anything of concern, amniocentesis or CVS is then done for free Confused This whole all together is £400... Quite hefty!

But apparently, just doing the Harmony test alone is even more expensive at the moment - they are probably collecting the data to align the test results, as the Harmony test is so new. Someone I met on another thread last year got it all for £200, but they don't do that special offer anymore Sad
However, should they find no viable pregnancy after the first scan, then you will only have to pay for that (£100), nothing else.

SaggyOldClothCatPuss · 04/03/2014 11:10

How many weeks are you again Squiz? At 12+ if you lie flat or possibly with a pillow under your bum, and find the top of your pubic bone in front, you can feel the top of what feels like a tennis ball (or grapefruit) if you have a gentle but firm dig around behind the bone.
Just don't poke around too much you'll make yourself sore. Smile

OP posts:
bakingtins · 04/03/2014 11:15

Squizif you lie on your back and feel from your pubic bone up towards your belly button you may be able to feel a difference between the firmness of your uterus (somewhere around level of top of pubic hair) and that your abdomen is squishy above that level. As a rule of thumb it gets up to your belly button by 20 weeks then 1cm a week beyond that. MWs don't measure before the 16 week appointment though, so don't fret if you can't feel it.

squizita · 04/03/2014 11:15

I'm 12+2. Ah, so you poke around to find it - I thought it meant 'feel it' like you'd feel a muscle ache or sore boobs! Doh! Grin

Can't check now (unless I lie on the table in front of 6th form study period LOL) so will later and worry if I can't, even though obvs it'll be me being clumsy.

In other news I think my usually lovely and subtle senior manager has outed my pg to a staff member (who gossips) by accident in an email. Was asking for some help with some physical stuff, he fwd the email genuinely forgetting the line "I'll leave about 11am for my scan tomorrow ..." somewhere in there. FX she'll not bother reading the whole chain of emails.

fod27 · 04/03/2014 11:33

Hi ladies - just seen the Dr, blood preassure is ok but he was concerned about the swelling - traces of protein - and under instructions to take it easy, drink lots of fluids and finish work (already done that bit) any changed with headaches rtc and I have to come back

fod27 · 04/03/2014 11:46

Oh and great news Dav

SaggyOldClothCatPuss · 04/03/2014 11:51

Great news guff! Very quick, hope you're at home having cuddles. Let us know the name when you have one.

corpore sounds like you're heading in the right direction.

dav glad you had a good scan too

alb thirst is a pregnancy symptom for me. I had it with the first that ended at 8 weeks, and I've had it again this time. I carry a sports water bottle with me and top it up as necessary. Also useful to keep by the bed so you don't have to get up, just grab and drink.

fod keep an eye on yourself, glad Dr doesn't seem too worried, but take care

Today I have been for the anomaly scan. It took a while as baby wasn't in the right position for the head and face checks. We were sent for a walk and then had to wait a bit for the sonographer to be free. I also had to get up on the table (that was tilted!) on my knees and forearms to get it to move! It worked in the end and all the checks and measurements were done, everything is ok Smile

We decided not to find out what we're having. In the end I didn't really feel comfortable saying yes, so we didn't.

Feeling a bit more positive today, and have agreed to look at the baby things that DP had delivered last week.

fod27 · 04/03/2014 13:11

Ahhhh yes of course saggy lol I'm on it

CorporeSarnie · 04/03/2014 13:13

thanks JBrd, will get in touch when I am a little nearer the appropriate time. It is a bit of a trek into C. Ldn from here so I will need to think about it. I also don't remember my numbers from my 1st pg, I feel like they were OK but it would be nice to have a strong feel for the risk of trisomy, not that I honestly know how I'd react if it were high.

fod27 · 04/03/2014 13:17

Thanks nerdy unfortanetly I can't do anything but keep a eye on things - due to the sheer size of those things ;)
Sounds like your PMA is coming back slowly tho, I'm sure you'll feel better once you've had a plus with LOs things xxx

ruth1104 · 04/03/2014 13:43

Alb I get a really really dry mouth too, but I realised downing pints of water at a time was making me more queasy, I find I'm better sipping some squash. I've always been a thirsty person though!

suzy I'm so sorry for your loss, you sound very calm and brave and I hope you've got lots of good real life support.

guff congratulations!!!

squitz Isn't it weird how people think it's so ok to be judgy about babies and parenting? Is there anything else where people stick their nose into so much? I've got the crazy pregnant dreams too, and they're so frightening and real, I've never had anything like it. Last night I dreamt I was trying to train a killer whale and it was trying to drown me.. and mostly succeeding.

I am 8 weeks today! Feels like a big milestone but I'm still terrified, so booked a private scan for friday. Thanks for all the reassurance after throwing myself of a ladder; I wasn't even bruised, and this thread and a phone call to my mum calmed me down enough to realise that.

At the moment we're living with my grandparents (while house sale is coming through), and I stupidly decided to tell them about the pregnancy today. The responses were, in this order:

'But you've just started work'
'I thought they told you to wait for another after you had a miscarriage'

'So when's this baby due? October?'
'don't you need to take extra iron since you're a vegetarian?'

'so you shouldn't be up ladders then?'

I'd have thought she would have noticed how tired and grumpy I've been, but apparently not... I'm so worried about telling anyone else now, that they might not think it's good news.

squizita · 04/03/2014 15:16

Started absolutely bricking it re tomorrow. Fun times.

Thankfully email that outed my pg was retracted in time, no one knows.

fod27 · 04/03/2014 16:25

squiz I recommend a soak in the bath follwed by a naughty tea ;)

JBrd · 04/03/2014 16:30

squiz I second fod's suggestion, and maybe throw in an easy film? It just doesn't seem to get any easier, does it?

Since I booked the scan for next Tuesday this morning, I have suddenly become all tense and anxious again Confused.
