Congratulations everyone! Can I join in please? We found out at the weekend we are expecting our first, but not my first - this will be number 4!!! :-O
So its very early days, my period isn't even due until tomorrow but I have 5 positive tests, 2 very strong ones, morning sickness this morning and huge boobs lol. Last month I caught too, but it was a chemical I think, the line had gone by this stage, and this feels very strong!
When should I tell my midwife? oh gosh this will be a new one too as I am in a different area. Gosh its so exciting... sorry to waffle lol!

MB34 · 19/02/2014 22:18

Congrats to all the latest bfp-ers!

I had my scan date through today - 7th april and according to lmp will be 11+3 weeks!

Got my mw appointment on 18th March and from what I remember they check your urine and BP (they do this at every appointment) and take info to go in your file such as family medical history (yours and DH/DP). I think they also tell you about the blood tests you have a little further on and general talk about pregnancy including answering all your questions. (DS is 15 months so can't quite remember exactly what happened)

Sometimes it still hasn't sunk in yet that I'm pregnant so I still lie on my stomach but the one thing I remember from my last 12 week scan is how far down the baby is! I thought they would be scanning an inch or two below my belly button but it was even further down than that! Enjoy it while you can as soon you won't be able too :-D

Eggsiseggs · 19/02/2014 23:04

Hi all!
Interested to hear about symptoms - my boobs feel like a tonne each, and I have cramping now and again.

And get just exhausted at about 4pm!

But to be honest, I am enjoying every twinge and symptom so far ...

Sometimesbrunette · 19/02/2014 23:24

Aww congrats everyone!!!

Thank you MB34- I genuinely don't know what happens. Very exciting. Hubby's best mate is a dr and his wife a nurse but I don't want to be asking question after question. They get it all day at work.

Eggsiseggs - I secretly like a twinge. It's just telling me it's there. Not too much though!

I've got a feeling I'm showing soon though. Or is it bloating?

I have 34Gs already so dreading heavy boobies x

MrsGoldilocks · 20/02/2014 06:49

Sucks doesn't it?! Assignments are the last thing on my mind right now, my brain is so foggy! What are you studying? I'm doing a PGCE and have 4 assignments due in over the next month, followed by placement from end of March to July. Don't quite know how that's all going to go with morning sickness etc, but I'm willing to give it a go!

I totally know what you mean about lying on stomach. I am suddenly so aware of my body and worried about slipping/tripping in a way I never have been before. Took the dog for a walk yesterday and normally wouldn't think twice about going over the mud in the field, but it was starting to get dark and I thought I couldn't risk it so just stuck to the paths. Dog wasn't impressed at all!

Haha why are receptionists at the GP nearly always so grumpy?! I guess it must be hard to maintain a sunny disposition when you're dealing with so many sick people. I'm sure they'll give you all the info at your first appointment, and I guess it's just playing the waiting game til then. It's just all so nerve-wracking isn't it? You've got me thinking about a private scan though...

x0gawjus0x · 20/02/2014 07:14

How exciting :) just wanted to say good luck I'm 38+2 now but can remember when I got my bfp after 2 yeArs I took like 9 tests lol waiting for 12 week scan is the longest part so if you can manage that time will fly :) xx

lovelycrinklyedges · 20/02/2014 08:47

Hi all, first time on here too. Congrats everyone :) I'm 6wks tmw. We'd been trying for 18mths and it's so exciting, still feels rather surreal. Have felt ok so far. Super keen to tell family as we're close but my brother's getting married next week and it's his time to shine at the moment, I don't want to steal his thunder with news of first grandchild/great-grandchild... But we don't live nearby and I want to tell them face to face, so thinking we'll tell my parents and siblings the day after the wedding before we go home. Does that sound selfish and still a bit thunder-stealy?! Well I've got a week to decide. Really excited about the wedding and had to have amusing email exchange with the reception venue over food to make sure it isn't obviously to everyone when I turn down the pate and goats cheese and demand my meat well-cooked lol. Not sure how I'll avoid conversations about why I'm not drinking tho!! Good luck everyone x

HullBird · 20/02/2014 09:39

Hello ladies, please may I join in? Did a digital test last night after squinting at 'normal' tests trying to decide whether a line is a line or not a line! Made an appointment with the family planning nurse for this morning. Husband wants to tell the world, I want to wait until 12 weeks, I think, I don't know. It's all a bit surreal. (Think I'm 5 and a bit weeks)

Eggsiseggs · 21/02/2014 07:49

lovelycrinklyedges I became a master of the subtle not drinking before and during IVF. As someone who is famously no stranger to a bottle of wine or three, this was quite a challenge!

My tips:

  1. NEVER say you aren't drinking. People instantly jump to conclusions. If anything, get the party started by getting the first round!
  2. Accept a drink with gusto. Just don't drink it Grin
  3. 'Oh where's my drink gone?' - weddings and parties are perfect for losing your drink!
  4. People stop noticing when they have had their fourth...

Been doing this for months, and very few people have noticed.

I think telling them the day after is nice.

robindeer · 21/02/2014 14:00

Can I join? BFP on a clearblue digi test says pregnant! Been trying for around 6mths so really excited. I'm worried about lack of symptoms though, and keep feeling as though I'm about to get my period. Anyone recognise this? Please tell me that it's a symptom and that this surreal, 'it can't be true' feeling is just normal!

Oklahoma · 21/02/2014 16:51

Congratulations all!!

Found out on Monday and is my first so I'm fluctuating between excitement, terror and denial! Robin I feel the same as you, no real symptoms other than sore boos and vague fluey feeling I normally get as PMS. I still can't quite believe it...

LCE I totally agree with EIE. Telling them the day after would be lovely. That is family day after all.

Eggsiseggs thank you for that - I have no idea how I am going to hide not drinking as I'm normally a fish! Also it is Friday afternoon - what on earth am I going to drink tonight?!

robindeer · 21/02/2014 20:45

Just back from a pub meal, I was the "designated driver" for my DP, this in itself is suspicious! No idea how I'm going to get through the next eight weeks until I can tell everyone!

Groovester · 21/02/2014 23:30

Can I join in please? 3 (wanted to make sure!) bfps today. 2 very clear first response tests and a clear blue (non-digital) one that is a really really faint cross but definitely there. AF was due last Sunday. Only symptoms are sore boobs and tiredness thus far. I'm really excited and confess to having blabbed already to family and close friends. It's my birthday so best present ever really!!!

rosiepuppy · 22/02/2014 08:42

Eggsiseggs - great tips on the not drinking!! Im usually the first one to the bar anyway so hopefully know one will notice. I have 3 work drinks this week so I will put it into practise - hopefully it works because work people are the last people I want to tell.

I am 5 weeks today and my symptoms are sore boobs and needing a wee all the time!

I think im still in denial, but I catch myself thinking I mustn't fall over or do anything silly and the next moment I trip up the stairs! Must stop being so clumsy.

HullBird · 22/02/2014 09:01

Excellent not drinking tips! I'm inevitable 'Des' when we go out (we live in the middle of nowhere) so me not drinking won't be an issue with friendss, plus I generally give up the booze for Lent, so will be using that as a reason. Biggest challenge will be this evening as we have my parents coming to stay. Saying no to a glass of wine while sitting on my own sofa will meet with suspicion! (we're going to take them out for dinner so I have to drive!)

Eggsiseggs · 22/02/2014 10:49

Oh, those symptoms sound familiar, all!
Period-type cramps quite regularly, utter exhaustion, general
pMT-ness and frequent loo breaks!

Well, a week since I found out and it's still hanging in there. Desperate for a scan, though.

RebeccaCloud9 · 22/02/2014 14:26

Hi can I join in? Did a test on Sunday 16th (bit of a shock, we weren't really trying!) and think we are 5 weeks ish. Taken a few days to get our heads round it and now so excited, nervous, happy etc etc. Have told my parents and sister and one friend who has just had a baby. Now kind of thinking, "Now what?" as in: I haven't heard back from the midwife and think it may be a while before our 1st appt; can't tell anyone else yet; don't want to plan ahead too much (scared and superstitious I suppose) but can't think of anything else! I think I just really want it to be the scan time NOW! Anyone else feeling like this?

Rebecca x

RebeccaCloud9 · 22/02/2014 14:26

Ooh and congratulations everyone! It's so nice to hear all your good news!

robindeer · 22/02/2014 14:31

Urgh, I feel grim today! Headachey and sick. Just took paracetamol and putting the tablet in my mouth made me gag! Taking it as a good sign but I agree I'd like a scan to reassure me that it is really happening!

RebeccaCloud9 · 22/02/2014 14:36

Thought I'd add my symptoms too.

  1. From c. 4 days before AF due, light cramps similar to period cramps but much less noticeable.
  2. Horrid bloating, sometimes uncomfortable, meaning my tummy is already sticking out!
  3. Some periods of dizziness/light-headedness/fogginess but no sickness (yet!)
  4. Really vivid dreams every night for at least a week - though this may be just cos my mind has been whirring.
  5. Have felt totally exhausted a few times and just had to lie down. Also, tried a spinning class (took it gently) but got super tired out.
  6. Sore boobs but not painful - just more aware of them and need to wear a bra even to walk to the bathroom. Think they've grown a bit too (yikes, already an E cup!)
Cclear37 · 23/02/2014 08:54

Hi, I've just joined. Not sure what threads to join then saw this one! After 4 years and numerous rounds of fertility treatment I got my first ever bfp on Thursday! I'm shocked, excited, worried and everything in between! Counting down the days to my 8 week scan on the 20th march. No real symptoms apart for weeing for England in the night!!!
Hello to you all and congratulations!!!

RandomInternetStranger · 23/02/2014 09:40

I just got my BFP the other day too, due November 1st, my 2nd little one, can I join too?? :)

CraziesTogether · 23/02/2014 09:57

I am new to MN too! BFP Friday & Saturday!

Can't quite believe it really, and all I can think of is 'now what'! I actually thought I had a virus so have a GP appt next week so will go from there!

Interested to know what advice others have been given already about exercise and diet
