Mucus plug?? (TMI)

I'm 38 weeks 5 days and i'm pretty sure i've just lost my mucus plug (or part of it), it was clear and stringy and about 4cm long. Sorry for TMI! It wasn't pink or blood stained at all. Could this be part of the plug? And also can anyone share their experiences of how long it was until labour started after losing their plug? Thanks!x

I had similar, no blood, at 38+2. I was supposed to be having an ELCS for breech at 39 weeks, so I went into hospital and they monitored me and detected some early contractions and said that labour was going to start soon. So I had the ELCS that day as they didn't want me to go into full labour in case of cord prolapse.

I think for some people it doesn't happen for a week or so afterwards though!
