I'm 9 weeks and waxed my legs at the weekend! Checked the kit and it didn't say that pregnant people should avoid. Can't think of any reason why not but it's only affecting the skin, and nothing is absorbed into the blood stream, so would think is ok. However, could be totally wrong - what does someone who knows what they are talking about think?!!

handlemecarefully · 09/03/2004 16:05

can't see why not...

bossykate · 09/03/2004 16:05

i did last time. however, it is even more painful than usual!

highlander · 09/03/2004 16:14

It's perfectly safe. I'm continuing everything!

Some salons maintain that there is an increased risk of miscarriage due to abdominal pain and make you sign a disclaimer (my friend had to). However, when confronted with the fact that there is not a single scrap of evidence to support this, they should back down.

Aah, the joys of pregnancy. Suddenly your body is public property........

It's probably better for you than the contortions I went through shaving my legs last time!

udar · 09/03/2004 16:28

I've had it done a couple of times while pregnant. I would have thought that the only risk would be miscarriage due to the stress of the pain...I don't actually think it hurts too much so wasn't worried about it.

I add a Brazilian at 9 weeks and the salon said it was fine but it was so so so more painful than normal (haven't been brave enough to go back since)!

I waxed all through my last pregnancy and apart from the enormous pain no side effects. I have to say that so far this time i have decided to wax myself as at least i can shout and scream and stop for a break when i need to. Only problem is i cant do my arms so im looking a little (actually alot) mediteranean right now and we wont even go into the state of my nether regions. Dont know what im gonna do when it comes to holiday season!

I had everything waxed off the day before DD was born, the only problem I thought might be the beautician getting spooked about it incase I went into labour, I phoned and said I was due, was it a problem and they said they'd done it many times on very pregnant women.

I've only ever had my legs waxes during pregnancy - I had no idea there might be a problem. I just could not reach my legs with a razor any more. For the back of my legs I had to go doggy style. I didn't find it particularly painful!
