Baby cardigans

given that they're on every list of things you need for a newborn, where do you get these from?? Am I meant to have knitted them?! We don't know the sex so I want neutral colours but I'm really struggling to find anything

She has also given me some knitted shorts.....

You can pick up some lovely new hand knitted cardigans in Oxfam, I have just replaced the last one, and my new one cost £3.99 :), all my children have lived in them till they were too small. They are mainly white cardigans in Oxfam.

writer when you say she has given you knitted shorts, please tell me they are for the baby and for actually for you....!

They come with a knitted matching jumper and knitted matching socks

I got plain white ones out of mothercare and tesco. Next also have plain white ones, if you like brighter colours h&m might be worth a look.

Tet also sell them at the hospital near me for charity, my nan knitted us some haha x

My mum knitted all mine, I have about 30! Always get compliments about them, and Ted even has his own hand knitted jumper!

Got the same problem! It's the last thing left on my list of clothes to get... There seem to be lots with hoods but someone on here said that they aren't ever so comfortable as babies spend so much time lying on their backs and so hoods ruck up under their heads.

Love babies in little knitted bits, my mum saved my ones that she knitted and my man knitted when I was born - they are still perfect x

Mothercare don't have any white ones left in newborn or 0-3 mths.
I'm the same about hoods, and the ones I have seen are really expensive given how long there'll get worn for.

I'm knitting them! But don't know what I'm having, or a clue how big an actual baby is. Or how warm it might be by April! But I'm having a nice time doing it! (the poor bugger)

Oh bu**er forgot to think about hoods! Maybe I need to try and pick up knitting again

Don't buy too many is my advice. We never used them much with DD. She wore sleep suits or long-sleeved tops with (comfy) trousers, cardigans were just a bit of a hassle. Everyone's different though. Definitely agree don't get any with hoods.

I've always been told that what Haahooo says is the actual case; i.e. babies and cardigans with all their fiddly buttons don't really mix, so they end up being one of those articles of clothing that are sweet but you don't really use. Especially in warmer months which we're heading towards? But I haven't got any (babies or cardies) yet. Have others used them much?

Don't bother is my advice. Baby vest plus babygro is warm enough for inside, with a blanket if they aren't lying on you, and outside a cardie won't be warm enough so you'll need a snowsuit. We inherited quite a few and never used them.

If you really want some, there are lots of new hand knitted ones on eBay for very little £ (enterprising grannies I assume).

Boots is usually good for this.
