5 weeks 4 days Preg

Hi,

I'm new to this & could be doing with some advice. Today I should be 5 weeks & 4 days pregnant. On Saturday I had severe cramp, that bad that I could not stand up, on the Monday at 4am I was woken up with bad pains in my left side. For this reason I called the EPU & they advised me to come down, they took my bloods & my HCG is 10k(something) today )tuesday) they done an internal scan & measured a Yolk Sac etc at 5weeks. Last July I suffered a miscarriage & thats what I feel has happened this time again as all of my pregnancy symptoms are gone. I need to go back in another week.

My question is does anyone think I could still be pregnant? & why have I not fully expelled what is there? Why is it measuring less that what it should be.

I apologise for my ignorance, any advice would be appreciated

I'm so sorry you're going through this. Did they take your hcg levels twice on two different days to check they're increasing? Or are they going to do this? That would give you more useful information.

You could very well still be pregnant. I am seeing a consultant ob/gyn and he says scans can be up to a week out and there not be a problem. As in, you could be 6 weeks preg but the scan show you to be only 5 weeks because you ovulated late for example.

At the beginning of my pregnancy, I had two separate incidents of bleeding. Both would suggest the pregnancy was over. However at 12 weeks all is well.

I also had a mc last July and I know how traumatic and truly shit it is.

What did the doctors advise you to do now?

Thank you for getting back to me.

I only had my bloods took once & they have pretty much left me to wait until the next scan. They didnt appear to want to tell me yes or no which is understandable.

When I had my miscarriage the last time the 1st sign of it was fresh blood, but this may sound weird but my insides felt bruised & thats the feeling I have this time. Last time I was approx 5wks & 1dy.

But then i think would my hcg be that high if i originally miscarried when cramping started on sat!

My head is going a million miles an hour

It's incredibly stressful, I know. HCG levels of over 10k sound very good to me... I've just looked at a chart and that's exactly where you should be at (or even a little higher) which is great.

Loads of women get cramping in early pregnancy. I've had it a few times.

Do what you can to stay calm now. Much bloody easier said than done i know! Whilst I was waiting to see what would happen, I listened to a meditation cd over and over again. In between that, I lay around reading crappy chick lit books.
