Pregnancy

What are you missing this pregnancy?

I'll preface this by saying that I'm actually really happy to be pregnant (it took a while to get here) and I realise I'm very lucky to be in this position. However I am really missing some things this pregnancy and feel like having a bit of a whinge.

In order of things I am missing the most , right now I'd love

a) Wine. Red. Lots of it
b) A stupidly hot bath, the type that makes you feel a bit faint when you step out of it
c) To go for more than an hour without really needing a wee
d) The ability to read anything even vaguely upsetting without wanting to cry. I feel I'm going to have to spend the rest of the pregnancy in a cultural void.

Anyone else missing things and feel a bit grumpy today? I'm only just in the 2nd trimester so it's not as if I'm in the horribly uncomfortable stage either!

I'm really missing:
Sleeping on my stomach
Enjoying a beer (I tried one to toast new year. Yuck!)
Swordfish
Camembert
Rational thought (I get angry or teary very quickly)
Really hot baths
Being able to blow my nose (or pick it!) without starting a nose bleed

I'm sure I'll come up with more. I have another 18 weeks left!!

I miss not gagging at the sight of food of any sort and being able to cook a lovely meal for my family. My lovely husband is doing his best but I feel for him as I'm so ill he's taken on my share of the cooking and food shopping whilst working really hard. It usually passes over next 2 weeks so fingers crossed. I can cope without my Malibu but I do miss the option (although I literally rarely had a drink anyway its just because I can't I miss.) I love cheese so I miss that but tbh I'd just appreciate being able to stomach food at all or even cope with food adverts without puking. Needed this rant. Again I'm also grateful I'm pregnant and passed first trimester stage but I can't wait to feel human again and just enjoy it. Xxx

Being pg is a dream come true but have had a horrible cold for 5 weeks now and really miss a) having a functioning immune system and b) cold remedies that work!

Im still drinking coffee just not as much as usual. My mw said a couple of cups a day is fine. I am massively missing cocktail nights with my girlfriends but mostly i miss not being grumpy. I am so snappy with dh and he annoys me for no particular reason. I feel terrible about it as he's only trying to help and be attentive. Im a bad wife x

Freedom of movement

Am not a happy preggo today as my older two children are driving me bonkers and I can't remember when adding another seemed like a good idea!

Glad to know I'm not alone. I've read the "Expecting Better" book so I'm ok with the odd glass of wine or beer but I want the bottle (followed by a lovely drunken fumble with DH)!

Oh yeah, I'm missing sex too. The only time we've had sex, I bled and as I'm Rh negative ended up having to take a day off work and have the Anti D injection. Not something I want to repeat too often.

I'm finding hot Ribena and a couple of paracetamol ok for those of you also suffering with colds. Olbas Oil on a flannel next to the bed is the only thing I've found to help with nighttime congestion though.

grobags thanks for that. Eggs are on the shopping list for next week Grin
Yeah, I know about the wine. But a small glass isnt cutting it against the usual couple of bottles large glasses I would usually have!

Decent painkillers.. although when not pregnant I don't usually need them.. SPD is a total killer.

Along similar lines - being able to walk for more than five minutes or sit on a chair, or drive more than 15 minutes without squealing in agony.

Agree about the congestion medication restrictions too, very much so!

I still drink small amounts of caffeine and booze, eat runny eggs, stilton, baked camembert, parma ham, sushi etc etc. As this is DC4 I've had plenty of time to thoroughly look into everything and the food restrictions are really not that bad if you do your research. Wouldn't catch me with bagged salad (allowed..!) or pate, mind Wink

Most of all I miss skiing!!

Pate!!!!!! Can't wait to be able to eat it again!!

Sleeping comfortably and all through the night.

Ibuprofen (as paracetamol just don't cut it when I have a headache!)

I miss having a lap! My DD can no longer sit on my knee cos bump takes over!

Also miss goats cheese its usually the first thing I choose from a menu when we eat out.

And being able to turn over in bed in less than 3 moves and a lot of huffing and puffing.

A nice cup of tea. Used to really enjoy a cuppa and just can't stomach it now. I miss enjoying tea even though the thought of it turns my stomach!

Brushing my teeth properly. Anything non-food in my mouth makes me hurl. Plus any flavour toothpaste including kids fruity stuff is horrid. It's a bit better now at 24 weeks but for a long time I was going a week between brushings. Vile. Hyperemesis means that I will do anything to avoid triggering the sickness, bet my teeth are ruined now :( (hence us preggos get free dental care no doubt)

TMI- Giving my dh a blow job. For same reason as not being able to brush my teeth. (Think he misses it more though to be fair)

Getting up from a chair or sitting down in one without making an oomph sound.

Sitting in a chair without looking like Les Dawson, knees apart hands folded over bump. So glam.

I am fairly sure I read nhs guidelines stating you can have rare steak, as long as it is fully sealed on the exterior it is fine. I hope I didn't just dream that as I have been regularly tucking into lovely steaks cooked medium. Yum.

I'm only 22 weeks and if I increase the frequency of needing a wee I will be spending all my time in the loo! Getting uncomfortable, not sleeping, can't believe how big my bump is and am fully aware of how much time I still have left. Completely sympathise with you. Treat yourself to lush bath bombs to make up for having to have it a bit cooler :) x

Being able to touch the batch of slow gin/slow vodka we made in September. Ditto cocktails.

Fitting into my nice, matching-set underwear.

Being able to snuggle up in bed.

Being able to sit up from lying down without having to plan it/psych myself up first.
