advice on chair for nursery please

I am starting to plan the nursery for our first child and need some advice about a nursing chair. Lots of people seem to have rocker/gliding special chairs. How useful are they? Should I spend out on one or stick with a comfy arm chair?

I've got one but don't use it as much as I thought I would. I prefer to sit on the sofa with a nursing pillow in the day & an ikea poang I already had at night.
I got ours from eBay for £50, hardly used & should get about the same back for it so might be worth a look.

I'm not sure i could ever have been faffed to take the baby to another room to feed tbh. The baby will be in your room for the first few months presumably and it's much easier feeding there!

I agree with bsmirched. I just lifted DD into bed with me and fed her in bed. During the day I sat on the settee because the arm rests were exactly the right height for breastfeeding (and I could watch TV)

I bought a gliding nursing chair which is in mine and DH's bedroom next to the baby's crib.

It is a lovely one and a total bargain from eBay at £50

I wish to god I'd bought a comfy chair. Still feeding dd at 20mo and I fucking hate the chair I've got!!! Use it twice a day and loath it. Definitely getting a better one for the next time.

I've got a gliding nursing chair too, 2nd hand, £30. Am having the cushions recovered in fabric to match the room. I've already had £30 money's worth out of it, it's so comfy on my back, the footrest is great.

I wanted one because we don't have a spare bed, baby will be in with us for as long as possible but if he has a bad night I will be the one who has to move with him as DH will have to get up for work in the morning. Don't fancy the idea of going downstairs to sofa so I can either comfort/feed in baby's room in the chair or I can go in the chair and put baby in cot bed (we are having cotbed in his room and cot in our room at first)

Also I read it's a good start of a loose routine to always do the 'bedtime' feed in the same place, and for us that's going to be the chair in his room

Wish I'd gone for a comfy glider with a footrest. I've just got a rocking chair... All the nights that DS was poorly, I could have nodded off in comfort in his room instead of sleeping on the floor! Def pick something you'd be happy to sleep in ;)

Had an ikea poang and found this plus a v-shaped pillow across my lap with baby snuggled on it perfect. A little bit of bounce to it and v comfy.

I also have an ikea poang, I'm pregnant with my 1st so I cannot say how suitable it will be but it is comfy and I love the look of it, I really wasn't keen on the look of the gliders.

We've got a cuddle sofa for feeding and for bedtime stories in future. It's comfy and big enough to sleep on if I need to which is a big plus - saves me going back to bed while I wait for them to not settle.

Wish I had got the ikea poang, I went for the glider with footstall and as the arms are so high it's not very comfortable when nursing an older baby.

We've got an ikea poang too. Even at nearly two ds can bf comfortably in it and when he was a newborn on bad nights we would do shifts going and sitting and bouncing in it to calm him.

I tried expensive nursing chairs in shops and they didn't seem as comfortable to me.

When we had DS he was in a tiny bedroom. I bought an Ikea Poang which I loved, it just fitted in.

We moved when pregnant with DD1, much bigger nursery and bought a glider for about £100 from Kiddicare. Also used for DD2. I fed DC in bed if DH was still up, but if he was in bed, I would feed in the nursery, so I could read etc at the same time.

At the moment, getting ready to move rooms around, the nursing chair is in DS's room and the Poang is in the loft.
