Last night I had dinner at Pizza Hut and had some tins from the salad bar. It wasn't until afterwards I started thinking about listeriaConfused I had a tiny bit of potato salad, coleslaw and some sweetcorn. I'm 36 weeks pregnant. Do you think I've done any harm to my baby??? Sad

No you'll be fine they have strict rules on how long things are there and the salad bars are chilled from beneath don't worry the don't have high risk items either.

(Used to run a P Hut a lifetime ago)

the danger time is pre 12 weeks. however err on the side of caution (use tongs etc) as there is a tiny (read miniscule because they get changed so much and its a cold environment so germs cant thrive) from other peoples unwashed hands..

I used to take samples from the pizza hut salad bars to be sent off for testing.

They're very strict on time and temp controls back & front of house, and pay a lot of money to my old company to monitor and ensure they're safe. Probably safer than food from most of our fridges at home.

Obviously I can't guarantee someone hadn't stuck their germy fingers in the salad, but I hope it reassures you that these big companies really do try and get things right!

Listeriosis is very serious but very rare. Aside from what others have said about hygiene, you don't have it and not know that there is a problem. You are chucking your guts up. Smile
