Stupid question alert. First time mum

Sorry if this sounds daft, but once you get your baby home is there a certain amount of time before you can take baby outside in pram, I.e walk in the park, to the shops, other peoples houses.

This sounds so silly but I have no idea. Sorry

You can do anything with a newborn. You want to avoid anyone with I yahoo is diseases but they're ultimately portable.

It's much easier if people come to you though, and getting anywhere for a particular time can take months of practice

Just be sensible with them, but you can certainly go out. We went to breastfeeding cafes when he was just over a week old, but to be honest, I didn't really have the energy to do much else (and it was getting cold).

Obviously they don't start getting immunisations for another couple of months, but just be mindful and don't expose them to people that you know are poorly.

I don't think so but be sensible about exposing them to too much eg hot/cold/germs etc.

Also make sure you don't do too much as you'll need a break as well.

You can take them out whenever you like, but bear in mind - you've just had a baby! Depending on what happens at the birth and how feeding is going, you may just want to stay in your jammies for a couple of weeks to recover, rest and just have snuggles in bed. Don't be pressured to be out and about or have visitors until you feel like it. This time round I'm banning visitors for a fortnight and staying in my jammies for at least a week. I did have an EMCS last time, mind you, but still - everything else can wait in the first few weeks.

Yes they are yours to do as you wish with! But as another poster said it can take a few practice attempts to get out and back home without too many hiccups. Sounds ridiculous but just remembering to pack everything and figuring out a routine can be tricky!
Only thing I would say is (if you have a partner and they have paternity leave) make sure you try get out and about on your own a couple of times before your DP goes back to work. It's much easier with two to help with unfolding the pram, watch the baby while you pack groceries at the checkout or go to the loo in the shops etc, and can be a bit of a shock doing it all on your own!
When you feel up to it plan a few short easy trips, a walk around the block, a drive to the shops for nothing essential, things with no time pressure. Then make plans to meet friends, attend social events etc.

Don't listen to anyone who says u shouldn't be out! I had some no doubt well meaning woman make me feel terribly guilty and like I'd callously exposed dd to all sorts of germs... It is lovely to get out with your brand new bean and show them off! And helps your mood and confidence. Just take it very easy, don't overdo things, don't commit to long periods of time out the house. A little slow stroll to the corner shop and back. A visit to your Mum's a week or 2 in. I tried to walk too far too early and set my stitches back a bit. It's u that will be vulnerable, less so the baby!

Like the others have said, any time. The reason some people take a while is that they feel weak after the birth, or overwhelmed with having a newborn. For me, it took a while to establish breastfeeding and I was just focusing on that and all the other brand new things like changing nappies, cuddling. I took dd out for the first time when she was 5 days old and just managed a hobble around a nearby park - still felt weak and exhausted. However after that started to take her out a lot more (to very nearby places) as I'd have been too cabin-fevery if I hadn't!
