Are cooked scallops ok to eat?

I'd like to know if scallops are ok to eat as I've already bought some (I cook them in a gratin type dish with a nice white wine sauce).

according to the Food Standards website, cooked seafood is fine.

And so I've eaten scallops while pregnant, but only in a reputable place (I include my home cooking!) and piping hot. And if one tastes even a little bit odd, I don't eat it.

ps the scallop gratin sounds lovely....

seafood is considered ok as long as it is properly cooked as part of a hot meal. I have eaten mussels and prawns so far during this pregnancy (dh made a lovely paella!!)

I think it's just that you could get upset stomach from seafood if it isn't prepared well or is raw like they serve it in some places, so I agree with everyone else. I've never had an upset tummy from a cooked scallop (sounds soooo delicious...) or prawn, but have from mussels...

Thank you for all your replies! Yeah it's definately gonna be cooked. This is for starter, for the main course we're having sea Bass! That's ok isn't it?

tidyjane, it sounds like you cook fantastic meals - when can I come over??!

I had scallops (which I adore) once during each of my pregnancies. Vomited violently both times. Hopefully that's just me ...

I had similar dish (with cheesy potato on top) twice in relatively early pregnancy and was fine both times!! Also read that cooked seafood fine as long as cooked through and hot!
