On OBEM count down... CAN NOT WAIT!

Boomgoestheweasel · 24/02/2014 20:56

Fell off the thread again, I'm a bad berry!

Jess sorry to hear your result came back higher than expected. Some very wise posts re: the actual odds etc so won't bang on, but I hope your Harmony results give you reassurance. Hope you're doing ok x

Thunder I'm not talking to you, I want to be on my last week at work! (only 2 1/2 to go in fairness). Back starting to ache and I'm not sleeping well so absolutely shattered now. Wish I hadn't been so blase when I was deciding when to finish!

Foody how're the twinges? I'm not the expert sadly, cervical length is a doctor issue, but if you're worried I hope you got them checked.

Bunny stop reading about tearing! Nutter!

Kitty I've got dry nipples too, they hurt like hell occasionally. Not sure if Lansinoh would help but certainly won't hurt!

Finished our NCT classes. I think my overall feeling was 'meh' - the group leader was a bit too drippy for me, I like someone with opinions and she was very 'it's YOUR baby' which is true but not the point Grin. She was very helpful about slings though and brought in a homemade one: 15ft x 2ft jersey cotton from a remnant shop, works exactly like a Moby (ie works for twins) and costs a tenner. Bonus!

I'm also feeling rather smug at having managed to find a load of 2nd hand terry nappies and covers for £20. There's only 20 of them but I thought this was an affordable way of seeing if they might work for us!

Struggling to breathe at the moment. I'm fairly sure Twin 2 is high transverse/breech and there's a head butting me under the ribs and stopping me from bending forward at all. As well as Twin 1 sticking their fists into my cervix. Bah.

Boomgoestheweasel · 24/02/2014 21:05

Ufff and yet another fail, wrote this post hours ago and only just posted it, and you've all been chatting away in the meantime. Sorry to the last 15 or so posters who I've just ignored!

Bunnygirlie · 24/02/2014 21:16

bad berry boom Wink hope the twinsies stop torturing you soon

Tearing and bum massaging seem very far away at the mo lol

Question, if you can remember this far back, did anybody have heart flutters?!?

Thunderpantsarego · 25/02/2014 08:43

jess, good scan news. One step forward. Now fingers crossed for harmony results and the next two weeks to fly (for you not me, they're already flying too much as it is)

merk did you enjoy? That last woman's bump was HUUUUGE

boom you can move the date, surely?

bunny yeah I used to get them, particularly when lying on the sofa. Have you got a scan date yet?

Sleepy here. Too familiar with 3am-6am still and then don't want to get up when my alarm goes off. Oh well only a few more days til I can chill out more. and then a couple of weeks til everything changes forever

Brodicea · 25/02/2014 12:45

Yay to jess on the scan news.

Hiya boom long time, no read! I ordered a boba wrap and realised when it arrived that, yep, it's just a big length of cloth which we paid over the odds for!

Oo, I am poised on the bring of watching OBEM on catch-up - but I'm scared I will be scared, or start pushing involuntarily. I couldn't watch casualty back in the day because I would start to feel the pain of the (actors) patients. Not that I'm a hypochondriac Hmm

On the subject of nipples, mine seem to be making milky dust (for want of a better description). My black bra seems to have dusty deposits, and I can pick out (TMI!) little hard bits of dried milk (I guess… and hope!) from the nips themselves. Pregnancy is weird and oh so glamourous.

Brodicea · 25/02/2014 12:45

I like to share (too much!)...

CatsCantFlyFast · 25/02/2014 12:46

Grin Brod

BlindKitty · 25/02/2014 17:38

I like that everyone likes to share too much! Grin! Hell, once you've discussed cervical mucus in berry hq, you can discuss anything!!! Grin

Just watching a bit of obem but going to rewind once Dh comes home as want him to watch too muhahaha!

OP posts:
Foodylicious · 25/02/2014 17:58

Just to share that I am sitting here very amused at baby bopping away and making my tummy look really funny Grin.
OH is working and wont be home till 10.30 so needed to share it with you guys instead

prop wont see him till thursday Sad

BlindKitty · 25/02/2014 19:19

Ah know the feeling foody, my Dh goes away mid week too.
Currently having a row though so he can piss off to london early this week for all I care lol. You'd think I'd asked the world of him and all I did was ask him to watch obem!! he just stormed off upstairs, prob expecting me to follow him [Hmm] Argh!!

OP posts:
Foodylicious · 25/02/2014 19:44

kitty hope you didn't go after him too quickly! silly men and their sulking
he might have had enough of all things baby, but we don't get to switch off from it so why should they!

SidneyBristow · 25/02/2014 20:01

Jess that's really encouraging news; none of us are strangers to 2week waits but I know this one will be especially difficult, but I'm so pleased for you that you've had positive news in the meantime

boom can I just say that you are my hero at the moment; still working and heavily pregnant with twins, meanwhile I'm struggling to stay out of bed for more than 4 hours at a time Hmm

brod Shock sums it up pretty well. I have to say milky dust isn't something I feel entirely prepared for!! Wink

and merk with the perineal massage, not sure whether to thank you for the heads-up or curse you for adding to my list of worries!! Actually I take that back; it's going on my Pinterest board for future reference and for the record I'd have anything massaged if it meant avoiding my ladybits being torn asunder. Bloglovin' recommended a random blog to me the other morning, so I naively read it - turned out to be a v graphic entry about how the writer had endured a nearly 3 day labor without any helpful drugs and wound up having massive tearing, including of her 'pee hole' as she casually put it Shock I'd go for a dubious massage over that any day of the week.

Hi to everyone else; I'll get better at personals, between waves of feeling vomity haha

Speaking of NCT classes, when did you all sign up? Is it much too early for an Oct EDD, or should I reserve a space now? How much is it? I can't seem to find prices on their site.

Also, were any of you breathless this early in pregnancy? I'm winded going up a flight of stairs these days, v unusual for me.

Lastly I've booked an early scan for Saturday, which is 7 weeks exactly for me. Had trouble finding a center in our area and a weekend appt saves DH from taking a day off, but I'm wondering if bang on 7 weeks might be too early to see a HB?

BlindKitty · 25/02/2014 20:01

He's still sulking upstairs! He forgets that hollioaks and eastenders are on so I ain't running anywhere quickly!

OP posts:
BlindKitty · 25/02/2014 20:28

sid you should be about to see a heart beat then although font dispair if you can't as it is still early. You'll only see a flickering blob but its the most amazing thing you'll ever see Smile

OP posts:
CatsCantFlyFast · 25/02/2014 20:29

Sid... You should def see a hb at 7 weeks. NCT is extortionate around here (mine was ~£350) - sign up early as you can always cancel but the places go quite fast. You'll get different opinions about whether its worth the money tho, but at least its great for meeting other mums

Blind, let him sulk! Bloomin men

Bunnygirlie · 25/02/2014 21:03

thunder glad I'm not going mad with the heart flutters!
No date of scan yet, first midwife appt Friday so hope to know more then.

brod weird and very glamorous innit! lol

kitty you want DH to watch OBEM?!? Mine would also run a mile.

sid I saw a flashing blob at 6w4 so fingers crossed you should def see something too. I have piccies of this teeny blob but it is the most amazing thing ever!
And you have a pregnancy pinterest board?

Question oh wise berries, I haven't been exercising as I'm not a big exerciser anyway but thinking about starting pg yoga after 12 weeks. Has anybody else done yoga? I've never done yoga before.

Also, when did you start putting on weight? I have been eating loads more but haven't really put on weight yet (baby taking it all?) although I do feel like my tummy belongs to the pilsbury dough girl!

PoppySeedBun · 25/02/2014 21:13

sid 7 weeks should probably see a HB, but not definitely - also depends on exact conception date., I think.
Re: NCT, I think how soon you need to sign up depends on area. I booked in November for April EDD, and in the middle of classes now. If you reserve a place, they will send you details on the costs, and you can then decide whether to actually book and pay.
Oh, and don't worry about serious tiredness - I felt much worse in the first trimester than I do now at 32 weeks, even though I'm starting to get tired again now.

jess fx for your Harmony results, but so glad the scan all looked good. The resolution on these things is so high, you really get a good idea of all the anatomy.

I quite enjoyed OBEM - I find it more useful than not to see different scenarios of what could happen (tho woman with haemorrage (sp?) was most worrying this week).

Foodylicious · 25/02/2014 21:40

sid the breathlessness should pass but take it easy, I was really breathless and tired after not doing much early on, had a funny trip to Ikea which nearly involved me being sick in a bin, fainting or sitting on the floor to stop myself from fainting. The best thing I could do was either to sit down or keep moving, if I stood still I would feel faint, moving keeps the blood circulating. Have had a few similar trips to the supermarket too!
bunny I am doing yoga and love it! really nice to take that time out just for me, its quite a small class and nice and relaxed. I founf one vid on youtube I liked and two that I turned off within a few minutes yesterday as they were really annoying and the instructor woman just did not shut up! there are a lot of different styles/types out there to suit everybody I guess from more exercise & formal to very fluffy and hippy type. I did not try any videos until I had been to a class though, I would be worried I might be being told to do something that I shouldn't otherwise.
I didn't start till a few weeks ago and wish I had gone earlier so go for it!
lots of places to pregnancy pilates too if you are into that.
Oh and sid I am pretty sure most people see a HB at 7 weeks, but I have read a few threads where people haven't and have panicked, have gone back and had another a week later and there it was! so FX you can

Thunderpantsarego · 25/02/2014 21:44

Phhhtttt sulking about OBEM? Seriously? Silly boy.

sid yeah I got breathless early on too. I think it's to do with having to create lots more blood and oxygen for the bean?

I had a sneaky scan at 7 weeks whilst seeing the consultant and we saw a HB from external scan but I was warned that it wasn't guaranteed at that stage. Was amazing.

Nct- I didn't book til after 20 week scan. The course here was around £170 I think and £40 for membership. Just ring em up with any questions, they're so approachable.

bunny yeah I did yoga. Was told not to go til after 14 weeks here. I loved it but can't afford to keep going unfortunately so am trying to do some at home now I know the drill.

CatsCantFlyFast · 25/02/2014 22:59

Clench (new one on me today that bending down to sit on the loo seems to squish mini Merk hard into my bladder and put my pelvic floor to the test out of the blue)

Sid read the NCT cancellation policy but I think they do a full refund up to x weeks before course start date if needed

BlearyeyedLol · 26/02/2014 02:50

Right ladies as it's 3 weeks for some of you to pop I will lurk and mark my place over here so as I don't miss anything exciting!!!
(You know who you areGrinGrin)
Labour watch begins now!!!!!!

BlindKitty · 26/02/2014 07:04

bunny thanks for reminding me about yoga! I'd forgot I have it tonight! It's pretty basic stuff so not sure how much you'd get out of it at 12 weeks. I still do (adapted) normal yoga as well and also started Zumba a few weeks ago. How about gentle walking or swimming?

Re weight, your abdo will start thickening soon as your womb grows even though your bean is still tiny.

So just awoke from a baby dream. Dreamt I had 2 babies instead of 1, no one noticed that I'd not passed the placenta and then both Dh and I went to work and forgot there was no one with the babies!

Really must get up as have my whooping cough vaccine in 1.5hrs! Booked it a day early (27+6) so hopefully it won't matter as you're meant to be 28weeks!

Will get the popcorn in for labour watch Wink

OP posts:
Boomgoestheweasel · 26/02/2014 07:58

Eee, labour watch! So exciting as long as I'm a watcher and not a watchee I honestly can't believe you girls are about to be term!

jess that's great news, glad you're feeling positive and hope the next couple of weeks whizz past x

Sid aw I do rather like being someone's hero Grin don't underplay early pregnancy though, it's exhausting and you don't have a massive bump as an excuse so nobody cuts you any slack!

bunny I would second the swimming idea, I did love the yoga when I went but it's more about relaxation and a few core exercises than fitness.

kitty hope you got your jab!

Got our 32wk scan later on today, hoping they've both gone head down (pretty sure twin 2 hasn't!) and that growth is all ok! I'm convinced my bump has stopped growing; Mr Boom begs to differ so I expect I'm just being paranoid. Also hope that the consultant actually bothers to meet us today as still feeling pretty disappointed with the care we've had so far.

BlearyeyedLol · 26/02/2014 08:16

Bunny and Sid when I was about 6-9 weeks I felt like a lorry had run me over. All I wanted was sleep. I have never in my life felt this tired!!! It's all pretty normal I think.
Boom good luck with seeing the crap consultant.
Am I right in saying that most babies are born from 2 weeks early to 2 weeks late? So it could all kick in next week ShockShockShock
