Boob juice??!! It's made it's way through 2 layers of tops. This is weird.....

Sid, I'm afraid vomiting in public is a definite possibility if you have that sort of MS. I try to tell myself that it's such a giveaway sign of pregnancy that any observers will understand - haven't had any comments anyway! It hasn't happened often but it relaxes me to feel prepared. I'd recommend carrying some watertight bags with you - airplane ones are great if you can get some, otherwise try nappybags or sandwich bags. Then wipes/tissues and water for afterwards.

Tallyra · 16/02/2014 21:10

oh dear thunder. looks like you might have to start wearing pads!

Good luck sid. I agree with jess, ziploc bags are good, as is an old Tupperware bowl, although that was mostly for the extra saliva that comes if sickness gets too bad. I don't want to scare you, just prepare you xxxxxxx

Thunderpantsarego · 16/02/2014 21:24

Woah, really tally? I guess you're right. Will I need them on me all the time now- really don't want these little nip marks showing at work!

Also sid it might just be nausea. I had horrible nausea (and generally feeling crap) much more than actually being sick. Don't panic!

BlindKitty · 16/02/2014 21:30

thunder boob juice?!?! Eek! I'm already on nipple watch every time we have sex now ever since someone mentioned it last week, maybe puppy?

I've never made mac cheese before. I fear I'd put far too much cheese and cream in it!!

Is extra boob juice linked to sex, kitty? not that it applies to me these days

BlindKitty · 16/02/2014 22:17

No but he won't come within a mile of me haha!

Thunderpantsarego · 16/02/2014 22:29

Ohhhh I see! Yeah I think I already crossed that line too...

Thunderpantsarego · 17/02/2014 08:03

Ps

I figured out the months thing. I reckon you literally go by calendar months. So I'm due on the 20th March? That means I'm 8 months on the 20th feb. Simples Smile

PuppyMummy · 17/02/2014 08:10

it was me with the leaky boobs!!

and one of my baby books says boob juice can be linked with with sex!!! Grin aparently orgasm can create leaking (something to do with the hormones released!) Shock

That wasn't what happened to me btw! I was just minding my own business when I noticed the leaking!!

Boomgoestheweasel · 17/02/2014 09:10

Ahem the milk let-down reflex is caused by oxytocin, which is also the 'hormone of love' which is released by a good bonk sex. So yes, shagging can make you spray milk everywhere Grin incidentally, oxytocin is also what causes contractions in labour, which is why nipple stimulation or shagging can help get it going (shagging also because the prostaglandins in semen can help ripen the cervix). Did you know men are hard-wired to have an erotic response to heavily pregnant women (according to some boffins, can't remember who but they made them look at photos and measured brainwaves or something)...

Mine both leak sometimes (not during bonking so far!) although right boob is far leakier than left!

Boomgoestheweasel · 17/02/2014 10:57

Please can I have a little cry? Just slipped over on those damn stupid slippy yellow bobbles on the pavement at crossings. Slammed into the ground with both knees and a hip, landed on my shopping bag and broke my eggs and yoghurt and squashed my grapes (no nice brekkie for me!) Some very nice people stopped their car to see if I was ok but I was too busy trying to stand up again and not cry to talk to them. Now home again but feeling very fragile and with two stonking bruised knees!

Babies not moving currently, normal for them but trying to poke them into action for some reassurance. Logically I know they're fine but have given myself a fright Sad

CatsCantFlyFast · 17/02/2014 11:06

Boom poor you. Have a good cry, its the shock. Babies won't even have noticed, they'll be fast asleep. Put your feet up and have a hot chocolate or something yummy x

Brodicea · 17/02/2014 11:57

Oh no boom that's rubbish Sad have a relax and try not to do too much for a bit - I like to wallow my way out of sadness. Watch something funny on TV and as merk says, a yummy beverage.

Thunderpantsarego · 17/02/2014 12:11

Oh poor boom that's rubbish. Never need permission for a good cry! Hope you're tucked up now and babies will give you a wiggle soon to reassure you x

PoppySeedBun · 17/02/2014 12:31

sid Agree with others on nausea in public - I felt bad a lot more often than I was actually sick. That said, I found it reassuring to always carry a ziplock/freezer bag with a couple of sheets of kitchen roll, and a bottle of water. Always happened to me on tube/train platforms somehow.

boom poor you! Never fun to fall over in the street (did it once leaving work, right in front of a pub, literally fell over my own feet Hmm). You never lose that feeling of shock and tears, do you? Be extra nice to yourself and the boom babies today. Flowers

Whoever it was that asked about NCT: wasn't a lot of content I didn't already know, but some questions that we hadn't considered before, such as who is your backup birth partner if OH is ill/ can't get there? And talked about what creates a relaxing environment for birth, given that relaxed = more oxytocin - and see boom's post for that.

CatsCantFlyFast · 17/02/2014 13:18

Sid I carried nappy bags, tissues and water everywhere. I too was mortified at the idea of being sick in public, but if/when it comes to it you really won't care. The one time I was caught out without nappy bags etc (lesson learnt/never again) I had a complete panic about where to be sick (somebody's bin? A drain cover? etc) and ended up sprinting home a la Usain Bolt and puking on my hall floor. However as has been said, you may find you just have the nausea and are never actually sick. It took me a long time to adjust to feeling so close to being sick all of the time, I had to 'relearn' the signals I was going to actually be sick as I felt so close to being sick pretty much all the time and it was difficult to tell the difference.
Painting nursery today, we are not doing anything spectacular but I have ordered a (pink) chair to go in there and its just arrived and I am v pleased with it. Also have the midwife this afternoon (36 week check a few days early) but am not expecting anything more than 5 mins based on previous experience.

Boomgoestheweasel · 17/02/2014 13:24

Thank you everyone for the sympathy Grin am now in the bath after a nice cup of decaf mocha. Think I might have sprained my foot slightly as it's now quite sore to put it down flat but hopefully a bit of rest will sort it out. Knees are purple!

poppy I think I felt similarly to you at nct, was expecting to know most of it so no surprises there but thought it was useful to get Mr Boom thinking (given who he's married to, he genuinely thinks birth happens like it does on a Coronation Street Xmas special..) I liked all the couples at ours although realistically can only see myself becoming friends with one girl because I'm picky as hell

Actually, it got me thinking that I'd be a damn sight better at delivering the class than the teacher modest and maybe I should think about setting up an independent antenatal/postnatal group as a money spinner!

CatsCantFlyFast · 17/02/2014 13:59

Do it Boom!
I am amazed by friends who seem genuinely naive/lacking in info to me Eg a friend who has a child who tried to shock me by telling me about what they will do if I go overdue... A SWEEP Shock she seemed baffled that I knew what it was and wasn't that faxed by the idea

jessplussomeonenew · 17/02/2014 17:04

Merkin, you're spot on about changing sensitivity to nausea - I have had some near misses lately just because I don't start sticking near the bathroom at the first sign of nausea - realised it mostly would be ok and I'd never get anything done otherwise.

Hope your symptoms are mild and manageable Sid!

Boomgoestheweasel · 17/02/2014 17:15

Merk I've actually spent most of the day fantasizing about my incredibly successful antenatal education business and eating selfpity food ..once I'm on mat leave I might think about it more seriously!

Brodicea · 17/02/2014 17:24

Sounds exciting boom - chatting with us lot has probably given you good practice in the myriad concerns of a group of parents to be!

merk my SIL is the same, she was really 'put out' in her words that we already knew about a lot of the theory of birth and babies (i.e., she was astonished that we'd heard of nipple confusion and baby-led weaning). She was like 'where did you learn all this??' (I think she wanted, in a kind if slightly patronising way, to teach us the mysteries of babies). I didn't tell her it was mainly from mums net! TBF though she had a premature baby and i think had been putting off the learning until the last month or so of pregnancy, and she was an istadiffer whereas I have been googling and reading for years.

Brodicea · 17/02/2014 17:25

I am sure though when the time comes I will be calling her for help so I'll try not to sound so smug!

BlindKitty · 17/02/2014 19:04

puppy thunder ooh didn't realise sex could set it off! You too must be getting loads of nooky Wink

boom I am ok to be shagging aren't I? I'm panicking that I'm going to go into early labour all because I can't keep my knickers on"

Poor you! Wouldn't worry re babies not moving. Good idea from merk re hot choc, my little kitten usually wakes up when I have a hot drink

brod merk yup we know far too much for our own good! Hopefully we'll know how to get a baby to stop crying in 2 mins and get them to sleep for longer than an hour which of course I won't

poppy it was me asking about nct. Hadn't even occurred to me that Dh might be unavailable!

Ok, I blame all of you guys for making me look this up and now I'm confuddled. Can someone who's done some research talk to me about reuseable nappies..I'm totally stumped. Tally?
