Does this sound like SPD?

I'm almost 28 weeks and for the past three weeks or so I've been getting hip pain that's getting increasingly worse.

It's not constant but when it's there I can't walk properly because it's so sore and sometimes it just gives way. It's always worse after I've been swimming or walking - basically the only exercise I do! It kind of feels like it could pop out of the joint at any moment.

Once I've moved around for a bit it seems to loosen up a bit and feel ok.

I mentioned it to my mw when it first started and she said if it gets worse she'll refer me to a physio but as it's not constant I feel like a bit of a fraud! It's bloody painful when it's there though.

Does it sound like SPD and is it worth seeing someone about it?

TIA

I would get it checked out and a referral before it gets worse.
SPD can be aggregated by walking and swimming and many other things you usually feel it after you have done something rather than during.

I've had hip pain when sleeping on my side in bed for most of my pregnancy and there doesn't seem to be much anyone can do.

I was diagnosed with SPD at 28 weeks and it moves from the front to the back and back again. Gets worse at the end of the day or after being on my feet a while. The pain radiates from my groin or lower stomach down my thighs or when it's at the back it feels like sciatica. I saw a physio who did nothing but give advice on keeping your knees together as much as possible and not standing on one leg etc. They also gave me a brace to wear which is useless. Codeine helped a bit but the most relief I have received was from seeing a chiropractor who specialises in SPD. Well worth it and I wish I'd done it sooner.

I'm now 39 weeks so just need to cope a short time longer!
