Torn muscle in face

Hi all

This is just about my 700th thread but your advice is always good.

So at 18 weeks and after some horrible Hyperemesis gravidarum I have spent the past week being pushed between various doctors and dentists due to an unidentified pain in my face.

This was diagnosed yesterday- finally- as a muscle spasm and possible tear in the large muscle underneath my ear. This was diagnosed in A and E so they have sent me home with 60mg of codeine and 1g of paracetamol to take every 4hrs and told me to see my GP due further help.

So what do I ask for from GP?

A and E doc mentioned lots of things- seeing someone at the pain clinic, neurology and possibly a referral to a doctor who deals with facial pain.

Should I be asking for all if these?

Also is there a more effective painkiller I could take? I was given tylex 30/500 at the hospital.

Is there more I could be doing? I was told pretty much that it was unsolvable and all I could do was pain management until baby comes (in July!) and that muscle is unlikely to heal properly or come out of spasm.

I can't be the first person to have this so I'm hoping some wise MNetter knows how to deal with this.

Thanks in advance.
