Am I having a MC? :(

Hi everyone. Would really like some advice or support from anyone who has gone through similar to me... I'm quite upset and confused.

I am pg with my 1st and according to last period I am nearly 7 weeks but as I have long cycles I think I'm actually more like 6w. It seems I conceived on my first cycle of trying since removing copper coil in November. My husband and I were so excited when we found out :)

I did a positive test a week ago... In fact ended up doing 5 at home and 2 at the doctors as I couldn't believe it and all tests showed a faint line rather than a strong one. I was assured that a line is a line. Now with what is happening it's making me wonder if my hormone levels were too low for a viable pregnancy from the outset...

This morning I noticed pink blood after a BM. I also had cramps... Like period pains. This afternoon the blood became dark and there was more along with small clots. I went to A&E. They took blood and my hgc levels are around 760. The hospital can't do scans at the weekend so I'm booked for one on Monday morning and I'll have another blood test then too. They said they can't tell me before then if I'm miscarrying or not.

I'm home now and cramping is pretty bad... I'm not doubled over but it hurts like bad period pains, I'm not bleeding heavily but there is (tmi sorry) mucousy blood when I wipe still..

I've also noticed that my boobs are not sore and seem to have shrunk a bit so look more like they did before I was pg... Strangely it's this loss of symptoms which has worried me the most and made me think this is very likely a MC.

Has anyone had a similar experience and gone on to a healthy pregnancy? I know this topic has been covered a lot and I've read through many today but wanted to describe what's happening to me...

Yep, sorry with all the symptoms - I don't think it sounds great - 760 is good but if the next blood test shows a lower level then not good.

But 1 in 3 early pregnancies end in miscarriage - the large majority of people go on to have a healthy pregnancy next time.

Hi Mrs foxglove. So sorry to hear u r going through this. I had a mc last year..i was a bit further on than u..c 11 weeks, and there was no doubt with mine. There was so much blood and clots i literally could't leave the house. A friend had an earlier mc and said it was more like a heavy period. I had implantation bleeding (am now pg again) this time...worrying but was a few days of cramping and light pink discharge. It's good u have been in to hospital already. If it is a mc then look after yourself and don't hesitate to ask people for help and support. It is surprising and sad how common they are. Also bear in mind that there's no reason why the next pregnancy should't work out if this one doesn't. I hope that doesn't sound too matter of fact. I just want u to know that u r not alone. Thinking of u. (thanks)

That was meant to be flowers! Thanks

Thanks for the replies and I appreciate the honesty - I've accepted what this is now. Monkeybrain thanks for the sweet thoughts (and flowers!)

Now maybe someone can tell me... How long is this going to last for? Will I pass a lot of clots / the fetus?? And is it likely to all happen naturally so I can just wait for it to pass... How long until we can try again? Will I need to be checked before we do?

My family and friends are being so supportive and wonderful. I found myself getting annoyed and snappy though as I keep being told how common it is, as though that makes it less horrible and upsetting! Hmm I will be strong though and look forward to next time. I will have my baby one day! X

Sorry to hear your going through this Mrsfox - hugs Thanks

I would say as it is quite early on in the pg you wouldnt pass anything obvious other than small clots. It should be like a heavy period. My experience of an early loss in Oct sounds much like yours with cramping/heavy bleed for a few days. I was told to do a test a week later and if it was positive they would have scanned to check it was complete. However mine was negative and so I knew it was all over. Going to your apt Monday will confirm it for you and you can talk to them about blood loss etc.

Look after yourself and if you need any other advice I would reccommend the body/soul thread for miscarraige there are some lovely wise ladies on there to help x
