I'm due in August and we're moving home. Hoping to be in by May latest and the nursery will be the first room that's sorted!

We're going to spread the cost so will probably start ordering things after the 20 week scan.

I would if I were you. I'm jealous. We live in a one bedroom flat.

My baby is due in June and I bought the paint last week :) We cleared out the room today and got started with prepping the walls and skirtings.

We are trying to get the decorating bit out the way so we have somewhere to put the nursery furniture when we come to buy it, rather than cluttering up the rest of the house.

StuckOnARollercoaster · 01/02/2014 18:30

My DD is nearly 8 months and we still haven't done it! Oops...
I am planning it though - just can't seem to get round to doing it as its working so well with her in with us and I'm the sort of person that needs a deadline before I get into a frenzy of actually doing and finishing something!
Sorry - not very helpful ;-)
I'd say do it when the hell suits you! And if it's now then nothing should stop you...

oh glad I'm not being completely silly then. We rent small 2 bed house so can't go mad, but so want to start doing something. Have been given a second-hand cot, so chuffed, just want to make it all cosy.

My baby is due mid June and we started slowly lays weekend putting a chest of drawers together, and got some paint samples this weekend. Love a bit of decorating/room styling! Smile

MyNameIsKenAdams · 01/02/2014 18:33

Oh yes, id be starting now. After all, you.need to do it early to make sure the paint fumes are gone (that was my reasoning with dh!).

If you havent got it already, download the Pinterest App - loads of inspiratipn.on there.

*last weekend!

greentshirt · 01/02/2014 18:37

Im due in April and we started to clear the room out today. I ordered the furniture between xmas and new year when I had a funny turn about not being prepared enough and we have only started the room today because I had a similar turn about it this week!

If you are due in May its not too early to make a start at least! Whoever said it is best to have the room at least cleared for baby stuff storage is very sensible, and what I would have done if time wasnt ticking away and my house like a building site!

Writerwannabe83 · 01/02/2014 18:41

We had our nursery furniture delivered when I was about 28 weeks pregnant and constructed it straight away. We had painted the Nursery about a week earlier.

I'm now 32 weeks and we have only just bought everything else the baby needed. We didn't buy things in dribs and drabs but just had a major splash out in Kiddicare last weekend Smile

cathpip · 01/02/2014 21:12

I am due dc3 at the beginning of April and had the nursery all done by xmas, but only because my sister was visiting and her 6 month old had nowhere to sleep :)

tyra78 · 01/02/2014 21:16

is it ok to paint while you are pregnant ?

PenguinsDontEatKale · 01/02/2014 21:17

Just for balance we didn't ever redecorate at all for Dd1 as her room was a spare room until she moved in. DD2 was only moved to her own room at 18 months and we decorated just before she moved in.Smile

HazleNutt · 01/02/2014 21:22

Just did it, DS is 7 months. It's recommended to have them in your room for the first 6 months due to SIDS, so no hurry really.

Hear ya, sarahquilt!

icklekid · 02/02/2014 04:37

Well we got excited and git a bargain on nursery furniture in the January sales- not due until July..started stripping off wood chip wallpaper yesterday will hopefully repaint next weekend. Just want to cleae our guest room again as it's become a dumping ground and parents are visiting our new house next weekend!

kjh5 · 02/02/2014 12:25

We started ours this weekend and I'm due end of April. We'd ordered our furniture at the beginning of Jan to take advantage of the sales and its all sitting boxed up in a cupboard. DH has been stripping wallpaper all weekend so we're going to repaint and redo the flooring before we start thinking about assembling anything! But we're also in the middle of completely renovating our flat so it made sense to get it done now. I want everything sorted by the end of Feb so DH and I have time to kick back a bit and relax together before the bubba arrives and it all gets hectic...
