Cats and not being wormed

Hi, I don't know if im being paranoid or not, but my mum has a cat, she hasn't dewormed it and the litter tray isn't very clean, im really worried about getting toxoplasmosis from it, I know someone who lost there baby at 24 weeks pregnant due to toxoplasmosis. I wont have any direct contact with the litter tray but worry about the actual cat itself, as she doesn't lock it away, I don't want to be a paranoid mum to be, but don't want to be stressed out afterwards worrying about my unborn baby. Thanks

As long as you're not going near litter should be ok. If you're worried about touching cat and places it's been then just make sure your hands are thoroughly clean before you put them in your mouth or prepare food. Which is sensible cat or not.

Ask the cat's vet about the chances. They know way more about toxo than most midwives.

Thanks for ur advice, I decided against going, but am going to ring the vet and ask, just for a bit of reassurance really, probably being a bit overprotected but took me almost 4 years to conceive and had a miscarriage not that long ago so am probably being over cautious but thanks :)
