Whooping cough jab due. Wait until best time or go for it?

Have heard so many people say that they felt ill after the whooping cough jab. I am 29 weeks so i need to get mine done now. However, the clinic is on a Tuesday and I'm meant to be going out with my brother the next night (his Christmas present- theatre tickets- I haven't been out socially for months). Should I wait for a week to get the jab? The flu jab didn't affect me at all, I didn't even have a sore arm.

Hello! I had my whooping cough jab at 28 weeks and I didn't get ill with it, I got ill with the flu jab but not this one, just a sore arm. Although my friend wasn't so well after hers so I guess it just depends on people as individuals, if you are worried about your night out then mayb have it done after so you can enjoy yourself, as far as I know it won't do any harm to have it a week later. All the best :) x

I wasn't ill at all but did have a sore arm for 48 hours. Doubt it makes much difference if you have it at 29 or 30 weeks.

I read that optimum time for placental transfer (which you want with this) is 34wks onwards, so I'm going to wait until then. It takes two weeks to become fully effective, hence why they want you to get it before 35wks (as 37 is term). My midwife hasn't even mentioned it to me yet and I'm 30wks! Not due for another appt until 34wks so will get it then....though I've just thought I'm going to Spain the next day with my toddler. Hmm, might do it sooner.

OK thanks! Looks like it won't be a bother to wait for a week at least. I have to do a bit of driving that night so sore arm wouldn't be great probably. Thanks all!
