bugs limbo land is the worst, I have really struggled with it. Have been trying to keep busy but have been quite restricted (and a little paranoid) about what I can do since I was put on 'take it easy' after the bleed. Also we have told only a couple of people the news so I have found it hard seeing people that I don't know - the not drinking, the not talking about the one thing that has taken over your mind etc.

Hoping that the time until the 12th goes quickly, in the meantime, plenty of Brew and Cake

Eggsiseggs · 09/03/2014 06:17

Thanks for the reassurance Hatteras and glad your scan went well!

Agree with everyone on the l

Eggsiseggs · 09/03/2014 06:20

Limbo front. Waiting is making me so nervous! Although my symptoms have come back with a vengeance, so I am not quite as despairing as before.

Still dreading Thursday's scan.

Lovely to know others are going through the same thing as me. Well, not 'lovely' exactly, with all this anxiety, but you know what I mean!

It's just wait after wait after wait isn't it! Love the idea of a post ivf island to keep us all safe on bugs.

So am I first up for the 'big' scan?

Symptomwise, I still feel grot most of the time, strange heart flutters when I lounge on the sofa but no boob changes!

Oldie here at 39, TTC for nearly 2.5 years. In that time, about 6 months on Clomid, a BFP, but then a MMC at 8 weeks. 2nd cycle of IVF (this one with ICSI) resulted in this pregnancy. Currently 9w 5d....and counting each and every one of them.

Yes to the post IVF island....somewhere warm and sunny please where there is nothing to do but relax, eat whatever we feel like and switch off brains until at least 12 weeks.

Bunny do you have a date for your 12 weeks scan yet?

Bunnygirlie · 09/03/2014 19:51

Lovely to read a bit about you Smile

Scan is a week on Friday Shock

I'm an oldie too. 37, been TTC since I was 33. I had an 18 month gap in the middle due to treatment for cervical cancer, that was identified when we went for IVF.

This is IVF3, but the first one where any embryos were put back. I have 12 frozen embryos from the previous cycles, but they are 1 day embryos rather than proper 6 day frosties. In 9+4 now.

I love the idea of an island! Preferably with a ultrasound scanner on demand. :)

bunny yes I have to have an operation. It's a transabdominal cerclage, where they go in an put a tie around the bottom of the uterus to hold the baby in. I basically have no cervix, so without treatment I'll almost certainly lose the baby once it gets big enough to put some downward pressure on the bottom of the cervix. But the success rates for this operation are really good, so I'm very hopeful. The operation itself is pretty intense - they cut down like a C-Section to the uterus, then put the tie in place and close all up again. I've got a month off work (which is no great hardship!). The operation is at week 12, booked for the 28th.

Eggsiseggs · 12/03/2014 06:28

34 here, ttc for 4 yrs, 6 rounds of clomid and now BFP on first round of ICSI/IVF. We got two embryos, and both have been put back in.

8 week scan tomorrow! Very nervous. It has been a long wait.

time2deal that's a lot to go through! Hats off to you.

That Island sounds great. When I am in my bikini, we can all debate whether my paunch is baby, gas, or the choc digestives I can't seem to get enough of...

caravela · 12/03/2014 12:14

Hi everyone. I just spotted this thread. I've been ttc for 2 years, and am now 5.6 weeks. I'm 34, but the rules in our area mean that you can't get NHS funded IVF once you're 35, so we had already gone to have a consultation at the local fertility clinic and filled in the first round of paperwork to get permission for IVF, because we knew that if we didn't get it in the new few months we would miss our chance.

At the end of Feb we got the authorisation along with a massive pack of information, consent forms etc from the clinic, and then a few days later I discovered I was pregnant. I think we'd both sort of given up on the idea that it would happen naturally, and because of the timing, it just seems too good to be true, so I'm finding it really hard to believe that it's real (also because other than sore breasts, I don't have any symptoms yet). DH is also finding it hard to believe: he said that he wanted it so much to be true that he was frightened to believe it. I keep on thinking that it's just an elaborate fantasy that we've made up.

Eggsiseggs · 12/03/2014 20:47

I think we all know what that feels like! Sort of afraid to engage with it because it is too good to be true.

Congratulations - must have been a big shock!

Welcome caravela, what a great story! Congratulations on the pregnancy, and I think we all know what it is like to not believe it is happening. After years of trying it just feels so strange to be back in the land of 'normal' people. :)

And also welcome Beetlebeetle. So sorry to hear about your twins. From my research the TAC is really successful so certainly something to think about.

Today I had a 10 week scan as part of the Harmony test, and everything looks good! Baby is 32mm, 165bps heartbeat, and I could see the head, arms and legs. All very smudgy but clearly there. It's simply astonishing to know there is a baby in there! They even gave me a 3d scan, which just looks strange, but I love it. I can actually find out the sex in 2 weeks as this is a blood test, so we will have to decide if we want to know.

The doctor did a cervical length check and it showed at 2cm, which is good in one way (I was told it would be between 0.5 and 1cm), but bad as it should be about 5cm. So the Cerclage is definitely the right option. Feeling very lucky to have the choice, to know about it, and to happen to be in the right borough to have two of the UK specialists working in local hospitals.

Today is a good day. Feeling pretty rubbish nausea-wise, and still too tired to move, but super happy!

Bunnygirlie · 13/03/2014 22:24

Hello.

Wow time it's amazing they can do that sort of op these days, I guess we all thank science and technology for giving us a helping hand! Keeping everything crossed for you. Yay for the scan!

Hi cara welcome and congrats! My sickness kicked in just before 6 weeks so you might be getting some symptoms soon, hope not though it's grotty! I know what you mean though, even though we've had an early scan I am still worried I'll get to 12 weeks and there'll say don't be daft there's nowt in there!

Yay beetle congrats! So sorry to hear about your loss though, that must have been hell.

I am feeling rotten, this daily hangover feeling is really getting me down. It's no fun at all, when will I start to bloom?!?!?

caravela · 13/03/2014 23:30

Hi beetle, sorry to hear about your twins; what a sad loss. Congratulations on bfp and will be keeping my fingers crossed.

I did another test, because DH was being so cautious and sceptical that he'd even managed to make me start doubting it, but now he's seen a second one he's agreed that it must be true! But still no symptoms. I really shouldn't be complaining though, since once I do start feeling sick it'll be horrid. But my mum apparently had very little nausea when she was pg so holding out hope it won't be too bad for me either.

time2deal · 13/03/2014 23:45

Caravela, when I got my BFP (2-3 on a digi) my DH didn't seem to quite understand that meant I was pregnant. He asked a few days later 'when will we find out for sure you are pregnant?'.

To be fair I think a lot of IVF clinics make you come back for a blood test, but mine just told me to buy a test and let them know if it's positive. He is away at the moment so I sent him some pictures of the scans and I think he is starting to believe it's really happening.

Bunnygirlie · 14/03/2014 08:18

I cannot believe this time next week I will be struggling to drink lots of liquid ready for my scan Shock
Really dreading the full bladder thing, had bad experience with the embryo transfer needing the loo so bad I was in pain, ended up trying to have a half wee!

How's everyone doing?

bugs that is fantastic news, it is such a thrill and a relief to have a good scan isn't it?

beetle great news from you too, hope everything is going well.

All ticking over well enough here. Feeling pretty rough most days with nausea but hoping that it will wear off soon. I was wondering whether part of the nausea could be because I am still on progesterone, and from what I have read it seems the placenta starts producing its own between 8-10 weeks (?) , so maybe I am getting a double dose. Or maybe I am clutching at straws hoping that the sickness will wear off next week once I stop the progesterone.

12 week scan on Monday (although I will actually be 11w 6d) - trying not to get nervous, but also can't believe I am almost at the 12 week mark. I think this may have been the longest 8 weeks of my life!

Bunnygirlie · 18/03/2014 20:17

Yay bugs that's fab!

Ooh hat you are just behind me then! My scan is Friday and I will be 12+1. Longest week ever!!!!!!! It's dragging!!!!!

I am still feeling grot! Only keeping nausea at bay by eating, as soon as I get hungry it strikes again. The gagging and dry heaving is exhausting! Sad

Have you guys told people yet?!? If all goes well we'll tell the mums on mothering Sunday Smile

OP posts:
Hatteras · 18/03/2014 21:48

bunny, I am exactly the same with the nausea. Not actually been sick at all though, just constantly nauseous and only feel better if I eat something. Carb overloading plus the IVF bloat means I can't fit into any of my jeans anymore. Seems to soon to be thinking about maternity stuff, but don't want to buy bigger sizes in normal clothes.

We have told both sets of parents and that is it. I had thought about waiting for Mothering Sunday, but couldn't wait! Plus, I am really close to my mum and she would have guessed something was up because I was so upset/worried when I had the bleeding. It was so lovely telling our parents. I think we will start telling other people after the 12 weeks scan, assuming and hoping all is well. Am trying not to worry since the stats for miscarriage are really low after seeing a heartbeat at 8+ weeks....yet still I am worrying!
