Before I was preg I was already 30 BMi :( I'm 29 weeks and I've gained about a stone, I'm trying my hardest to eat right and not over eat. But I'm hungry all the time lately, I don't drink tea or coffee or fizzy drinks or alcohol. I drink plenty of water so I'm not dehydrated. Just had home made spaghetti Bol packed I with veg and now I'm thinking about food again, my midwife told me not to gain more than half a stone through out whole pregnancy and I've gained a stone already. I feel the more I try not to and make right choice it's harder to stop being hungry :(

Any body else like this

I also meant to add another reason why I'm trying not to over eat is crippling heart burn when I do. Feeling very frustrated :(

I was weighed yesterday at 37 weeks and put on 15kg (was bmi 31 to start) (unsure what that is in stone, midwife works in kg not me). As much as I thought this was a lot, my midwife reminded me that 3kg will be baby, 1kg for placenta, 1kg for fluid plus whatever we can't measure for extra blood, fluid retention etc.
just do what your body tells you that it needs and deal with things in a few months time!!

You can take quite a few heartburn medicines when pregnant, like Gaviscon or Rennie. My favourite one is ranitidine (Zantac). The burning feeling in the tummy has made me feel like eating constantly and medicines definitely help.

I wouldn't be too worried about weight gain. The worrying level is three stone or more gained during pregnancy, that is linked to high blood pressure and gestational diabetes. Stone and a half is the ideal but not possible by far for everyone.

Adding protein worked for my cravings, for example having scrambled eggs and baked beans for breakfast instead of a large bowl of cereal and snacking myself to death. Also early protein-rich lunch. I knew the only thing I could safely skip was the carbs and it took lots of advance planning to keep myself from attacking the bread bin....
