Emergency appointment?

Hi there

I am 14weeks and 4 days pregnant, I have had mild nausea throughout pregnancy but this past week I have barely been able to get out of bed. Feeling nauseous, headaches and light headed. I haven't been in work since last Wednesday. They have been so supportive but I tried to get to a drs appointment this morning and nothing available until next week!! Is it worth me calling an asking for an emergency appointment?? I am poorly, but I wanted to check if it was worth saying emergency appointment?

Thanks

I suspect if you told reception you were pregnant they would give you an appt today, call them and explain i am sure they will help you Smile

I would hope they would make time to see you, particularly as you are feeling so bad. Unfortunately I was not so lucky when I was pregnant. I phoned my surgery one evening (they were still open for another 2 hours) and said my BP was up (had to monitor daily due to pre-eclampsia risk), I had lost my vision temporarily earlier and had pain in my upper right side of bump. Ie. all signs suggesting potential pre-eclampsia. The receptionist said they had no appointments and to phone OOH, I stressed how worried I was and the pain I was in, but she wouldn't budge.

In the end OOH saw me at the local hospital and kept me in as they found protein traces in urine and were concerned. They also complained to my surgery as they were shocked at how they had treated me. So fingers crossed yours are better, and never feel bad about asking for an emergency appointment.

I would definitely ask for an emergency appt, or try and see your midwife. Usually their definition of 'emergency' is - can it wait for a week? Like repeat prescriptions, routine blood tests, follow up appts, grumbly things that aren't too much bother but need looking at.
If you can barely get out of bed then it's definitely worth harassing them for a same day appt, you should get your BP checked as a minimum.
