Hi all im new here, im 11+ weeks with DC4 after going to the midwife last week she informed me I need to book in for a flu jab, I dont recall having to have one with my other pregnacies, i'm feeling unwell bad all day sickness and very tired, not sure what to do as a few people have said it made them really poorly for a few days after and dont think I could cope with any kind of illness ATM just wondered if anyone has had it and how it affected them thanks :)

I had mine, no side effects. It's not a live vaccine so other than possibly having a sore arm any "symptoms" are coincidental :)

I'm not having the flu jab, I had my whopping cough jab yesterday but I decieded I didn't want flu jab

NorthEasterlyGale · 28/01/2014 19:35

I have it every year as I'm asthmatic so had it during last pregnancy and this one - maybe a slightly sore arm but no other side effects so I'd say go for it.

SweetPea86 · 28/01/2014 19:36

To also add one of the reasons I isn't get it I've had months and months of sickness like u I can't cope with flu like symtoms

Mmolly2013 · 28/01/2014 20:03

no side effects its def worth getting one

Jenbee1 · 28/01/2014 20:31

Had mine last Thursday. Sore arm for a couple of days but that was all. If you sleep on your side have the jab in your other arm Smile. Mw recommended it as there's something in the flu virus that can harm the baby, sorry can't remember what.

I had mine Friday no problems just sore arm for a few days! Nothing to worry about! Smile

Mummytobe2014 · 28/01/2014 21:16

Ive had mine no side effects, any illness afterwards is coincidental and wld already be in your system. :-)

If you couldn't cope with any kind of illness right now, then get the flu jab!!! I don't know if you've ever had real flu, but even if it didn't carry risks for baby - which it does - the idea of catching flu while pregnant is horrifying. I've only had it once, not while pregnant, and had temp of 40 degrees for 9 days. I honestly felt like I was dying. The only likely poss side effect is sore arm - even if it did make you feel of for a day or two, compared to flu, well...

I had my flu jab but last week caught a strain not covered. I have been really unwell and was very concerned for my little one. I am still struggling with a chest infection and very sore ribs. I would not recommend this to anyone.
There was nothing I could do about this, I had my jab so at least I can say I tried to prevent this happening.
I would def recommend the jab, I didn't even get a sore arm with it.
