Vitamins

I have been taking folic acid with vitamin D as recommended by the doctor when I said we were ttc. Now I have been prescribed stronger folic acid that you can only get from the doctor so I was advised to take vitamin d separately.

The only tablets I can find are vitamin d with calcium. I'm thinking that extra calcium won't be a problem but just wondered if anyone knew if that would be ok? If anyone can advise I'd be grateful!

I was on prescription folic acid and simply took a pregnancy multi vitamin on top which also contained vitamen D. That was advised by my mw and consultant so would assume you'd be fine to do that too?

Ask your pharmacist but i think folic acid is water soluble so you just wee out what you don't need

Thanks for the replies.

I asked the Doctor if I could just take my other folic acid and vit d tablets that I had on top but she said no it would be too much. The mw didn't think it would be a problem though but said to check with the doctor!

I would stick with what your doctor says. I think it would be too much folic acid, so would not take both. I would just go for the vit D tablets, calcium is added to them as the body struggles to absorb Vit D without it.

Thanks Clargo I think I will go for the Vit d and Calcium.
