If you're having one of the big carseats, when are you fitting it?

I'm undecided as to when I should fit it into the car. It's not one of those with the handles that you can lift baby out in it.

At what week pg have you / are you fitting yours?

We had a removable one, but I wouldn't bother fitting it too early. Maybe by the time you get to about 34/36 weeks? If you go into labour before that it's likely your baby will spend at least some time in hospital (potentially a lot more if it was very early) so you'd have time to do it. Unless it's taking up space in the house and would be less bother in the car.

Sorry, forgot to say I'm 35 weeks tomorrow!

Would be more a pita in the car to be honest as got to fit that and two high backed boosters too.

If you already have two kids in the back, why doesn't your partner (assuming you have one?) do a trial run at fitting the car seat so you're confident? Then you could leave it a good deal longer. Have you been early with your others?

We are on no. 3 and I'm thinking I'll put the car seat in at about 40 weeks as I've always been at least a week overdue. I'm planning a homebirth, but if we went to hospital it would be in the list of stuff to put in the boot and I'm confident DH could fit it quickly even if we had a six hour discharge.

We have a seat that stays permanently in the car, I will be fitting it just before my section as last time my dh did it and came to pick me up from hospital, we got to the car with new baby and toddler and he had put it in front facing.........
