Tipped backwards onto bum from crouching position, light bump to abdomen

Hi all, sorry for the frequent recent posting.

I'm 22 weeks and was crouching low in front of my oven tonight, when I lost my balance and tipped backwards onto my bum. I was so close to the ground anyway that it was not hard, but the resulting crunch to my abdomen (as it happened, I bent at the waist enough to say 'oof') made me a bit nervous. Baby's kicked several times since (this happened half an hour ago), just as he was prior to this happening, and it doesn't hurt, but I read that your placenta or waters can rupture if there is too hard a blow to your abdomen. Left to my own devices, my honest opinion is it almost certainly is fine.

What do you reckon, seasoned veterans? I did ring the hospital but they left me more confused, first saying yes I should come in, then when I emphasised how small a 'fall' it was, they said I should only come if in pain.

Thank you!

When pregnant with my first I was in the supermarket, and crouched down to retrieve something from a bottom shelf when I rolled wibbly wobbly style backwards and landed in a messy heap mid aisle, in front of other shoppers. Fortunately the only damage done was to my ego! Honestly I think you will be fine - there is so much protection around your baby you should be but as your midwife said, if you experience any pain/ bleeding etc then nip straight in, don't hesitate. You've definitely done the right thing by checking and now perhaps just rest a little but if you are still worried.

For what it's worth I took a tumble down my BIL's stairs yesterday (now 33 wks pregnant with no.2!) - baby is kicking about like billy-o in retaliation I think but otherwise fine. This darn balance thing turns out to be a complicated thing when pregnant!

Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy! Thanks

What is your blood group OP. if you are RhNeg you should contact the hospital as you may need anti D if you banged your bump.

If you are RhPos, no need to worry as long as you are happy with babys' movements since the accident

There should have been a question mark in there, oops Blush

Hello ladies. Thanks for the reassurance Fantastic, I imagine you were feeling as anxious both times as I felt last night! I wasn't in pain through the night and Sprout has been kicking as normal, which is good. Shaky you're spot-on about the blood type issue, they did ask me that when I rang the hospital for the same reason (A-positive so should be fine). I'll see how I go with any pain/bleeding today and get myself to the hospital if things go awry (crosses fingers).
