Sooo uncomfortable at 26 weeks...

Sorry to whinge but I am 26 + 3 and I feel so bloody uncomfortable! I wanted to know if this is normal because I didn't feel like it with my first DS, 5 years ago.

So my bump is really tight and sore at the top under my ribcage - I swear I have the baby's head or bum shoved into my lungs and it's making me breathless. I have felt like I have a tight band round my middle all day and spent all evening sat on the sofa in odd positions and permanent discomfort because of that.

My pelvic joints are painful about 80% of the time, either because i've done too much (walked the dog for more than 20 mins) or too little (sat down for an hour or more). I walk like an old lady when I first get up, then eventually I loosen up but it's still painful.

I am moderately active - I go swimming a couple of times a week, walk the dog 4/5 times a week, for between 20-45 mins depending on how stiff I am feeling. Also housework etc, which is starting to feel like a challenge to be honest!

Sleeping is uncomfortable but manageable and I remember the discomfort from last time round so was more prepared for that.

I have been thinking that it is just pregnancy and I need to put up with it, but today I booked a Drs apt to get checked over - am wondering about SPD etc.

Is it normal to feel this bloody uncomfortable??!

I could have wrote that paragraph about your tight and uncomfortable bump. I am 31 weeks and having the exact same issues. My bump is rock solid! It has always been really firm but over the last few days it has felt so uncomfortable, especially just under my breasts/bottom of my rib cage. No matter what position I sit in or lie in, I am in some degree of pain/discomfort. It's horrible, you have my complete sympathies!!

And I'll take the paragraph about pelvic joint pain. Exactly the same here, trying to find a balance between keeping mobile and not overdoing it. Mine is definitely SPD and I've started seeing a chiropractor as I wanted to get cracking (pardon the pun Smile ) asap, rather than wait for NHS physio referral. Bought a Velcro/elastic belt thing from Jojo Maman for £20 and it helps with the groin pain, so I wear it when I'm on my feet.

Chiro seems to be helping, have had three sessions so far. So determined to do all I can to not get more immobile and keep strong.

I don't think I'm in as much bump-discomfort as you, only occasionally - but I'm on the tall side so maybe that helps.

You're definitely doing the right thing with trying to keep active, but if you can get some treatment too, that would likely help. Swimming is great, but watch how you kick your legs and avoid breaststroke legs as that could aggravate.

You're not alone!

You both have my sympathies! It's not good.

Ok, so maybe the dr can refer me to a Chiro - I get BUPA with work so could get it quite speedily I think. I agree, I am dead against getting more immobile!

Oddly breaststroke doesn't feel uncomfortable when I'm doing it, but maybe it's causing problems after. Not sure I have the energy for front crawl so it may have to be doggy paddle if I can't do breast stroke Grin

Yes, yoga teacher and chiropractor both said that even if it's not painful at the time, it can have impact later. So I'm sleeping with pillow between my knees even though I'm not suffering much in bed, in case it helps! Good news about Bupa! Hope you manage to get seen soon.

Thank you.. hope yours improves too. Can't believe we have another 3 months of this!

By the way, Writerwannabe83 have you got the right size bra on? My top of bump pain was even worse last week before I bought the next band width up, although maybe I should have gone a couple of sizes up!!
