Bleeding in pregnancy. Tell me your positive stories!

I'm 19+4 with my first baby. 20 week scan is on Thursday. Had some bleeding just before 17 weeks, everything checked out ok, then had to go back to hospital last week for more bleeding. Another internal, baby's heartbeat fine, no reason apparent for bleeding.

I know it's common to bleed in pregnancy but since being at the hospital have had bleeding every day. Not much, but enough to make me anxious. I asked the doctor when I should phone mat assessment and she said a little blood was ok depending on colour, cramps etc, but if it became heavy or accompanied by pain I should phone them. Midwife on other hand said I should phone with each new bleed.

I'm a bit confused with the conflicting advice given. I also had a mc last year and then it took me a year to become pregnant with this baby so I'm very anxious about everything.

Feeling a bit pathetic and hormonal Smile...

Hi Amelie, hope all goes well today at the scan and that you get some answers as to what is causing the bleeding.

Hope it went well, Amelie - thinking of you today Smile

Hi nobutreally and britabroad! Thought I'd posted yesterday but my phone's clearly messed up.

Scan went really well, baby is absolutely fine and my placenta isn't low lying after all (phew!). The bleeding has stopped and we found out we're having a little girl!

Thank you for all your good wishes Smile

That's great news :) hopefully it'll be plain sailing from here on in!

OP I bled too, about once a week until 12 weeks and then two or three times since then (currently 17 weeks). I've had multiple scans and each time everything has been fine. My consultant told me that bed rest doesn't work and so moving around etc won't make a difference to any outcome but that intermittent bleeding isn't unusual and, as per the advice you were given, that I should only worry if bleeding were copious and accompanied by cramps. I would head over to the hospital and nag them for a scan to make yourself feel better. Good luck!

Hi Amelie - very pleased to hear your news! Really hope all goes well for the rest of your pregnancy, and a girl - how lovely!

Take care, get checked out if you bleed again, but it sounds like the more worrying reasons for pregnancy bleeding have been ruled out. All very best wishes for the next 20 weeks.

Glad your scan went well and hope the rest of the pregnancy goes smoothly

Awww, great news. And congratulations on having a girl - you can start planning names in earnest now! Hope everything goes really well for the rest of the pg.
