Movement changes

I'm 31 weeks and although this is dc3 I honestly can't remember that much from my previous pregnancies. I'm trying to remember if it's normal for the movements to change about this stage - I'm getting less kicks and more wriggly squirming little movements. I assume it's just because baby is getting big now and starting to run out of space?

I've been trying to remember if it's normal at this stage or if I should be worried about the change in pattern of movements.

Mine definitely changed around that stage - I remembered it as being normal from DS1 pregnancy but if you're worried then just go in and ask to be monitored for an hour or so to put your mind at ease :)

Hi cake. I think that changes in the type of movement are probably fine, but changes in the amount of movement could be a problem. That said, my advice on these type of posts is always the same. Get it checked out. It doesn't take long and they won't mind. Just give your maternity ward a call and they will probably suggest that you pop in so they can listen I'm for half an hour.

good luck and congratulations Flowers

31 weeks here too and not many kicks, just lots of squirming, wriggling and stretching (headbutts to the cervix while being kicked in the ribs when driving.....not nice!).

FWIW, this is my second, but ds is 11 so I can't remember a thing.

I've been keeping a spreadsheet of movements since 27 weeks Blush and can confirm that I had a big change in the type of movements at 32 weeks, exactly as you describe; at 33 weeks I then had a real slow down for a few days (and at that point I did go in and get checked out but all was fine).

I'm 31+3 and my movements have definitely changed over the last week. They've gone from sharp and localised punches and kicks to now being a sensation of everything in my abdomen being swirled around. It's like slow motion feeling, where my whole stomach area is moving and things are being pushed and stretched and just generally feeling very tight and uncomfortable. The worst though is when I get these mental sharp pains on my cervix - it lasts about a second but takes me quite by surprise and makes me feel like I'm going to wee myself Smile

Thanks everyone it's reassuring to see it's fairly normal for it to change at this stage. The frequency of movement is still good it's just changed and not quite as strong at times as before. It's amazing how much you forget from previous pregnancies, ds2 is only 2.5 yet I can barely remember half of this stuff!

It doesn't help that I feel a little anxious about it being solely my responsibility to make sure this baby is ok until their born I'd hate to miss something important.
