How long do you keep the secret of pregnancy?

Hello everyone,

I'm new to mumsnet, and hoping to get some good advice! I'm pregnant with my second baby - my first is only 10 months old. I only just found out I'm pregnant... maybe only 4 weeks pg. Im bursting to tell people, and feels weird to keep to myself! I told my Mum and my sister, but want to share with friends. How long has everyone kept their pregnancies quiet?

Then told

I'm 5 weeks, and other than my partner, I've told a friend at work who had already confided in me that she is pregnant (just a few weeks ahead of me) and my boss (due to a big job decision) and that is it so far. I'm desperate to tell my family and friends, but also have so much anxiety about all the things that can go wrong. I think I might wait a few more weeks, but then I will have to tell them as going on a group holiday and they will guess within a few hours when I'm not drinking the wine and coffee that I never usually turn down!

First pregnancy - told everyone as soon as we knew. I wasn't aware of miscarriage statistics and naively assumed BFP = baby in 9 months. In that case, it did.

Second pregnancy - told everyone after 8 week scan. Missed Miscarriage a week later, found at 12 week scan, was horrible having to un-tell everyone, but found out which friends are supportive and which aren't.

This pregnancy - told parents and best friend straight away as I needed their support in case things went wrong again. Everyone else told (including siblings) after 12 week scan.

I told my best friend and DP when I first found out at not even four weeks. Work got told about 5 weeks as I knew I'd end up being off sick (and lucky I did as I had quite a bit of time off with HG!). Our parents got told at 17 weeks and friends a little after. Everyone knows now we've had the 20-week scan.
