Hi! Wanting some advice! In my spare time I sing with a small singing group and I am being asked to confirm if I am able to sing in gigs in August/October - however I'm due in mid September and I'm unsure if I will realistically be able to do them? Any opinions would be appreciated! I don't want to tell them I'm pregnant yet as it's still early days!

I think the Aug one sounds prob OK. You'll prob be tired at 7/8m, but should hopefully be able to handle a concert. The main prob would be if you'd already given birth by then, which is possible but unlikely enough that you won't be messing them around by accepting now (after all, anyone could be ill anyway).

If you are planning to bf then I would personally say there is no way you would make the Oct one.

You might not be able to sing terribly easily even before your baby arrives! I also sing in a choir and have found some pregnancy related issues with my voice. I can't sing as low as I could before, something to do with eostrogen, and my breathing is rubbish now that I'm bigger because the baby is crowding my diaphragm and lungs!

I couldn't play my flute from about 6 months. well, I could play, but needed to breathe more often than the passages required!

Could probably have played as soon as he was born, but was so shattered, I'm not sure I could have concentrated enough (or been able to leave him for a couple of hours for an evening, as my first 2 months as a mother involved being glued to the sofa all evening as he cluster fed).

Its possibly safer to say you can't commit, but would love to be an extra in the group if plans change? Would that be possible?

Congrats on the pregnancy.
