Fact or fiction? Red leaf tea!

So my friend told me that red leaf tea is really good for helping with labour and contractions! She swore by it and even thought it set her off but she started drinking it from 32 weeks! I'm currently 38 and don't know if there is any fact to it? Has anyone had any experiences?

Raspberry leaf tea, not red leaf!

Raspberry leaf tea is supposed to strengthen and tone your uterus to make contractions more effective and shorten the pushing stage. I used it from 32 weeks (the tea was rank so I took it in capsules).
I was induced at 38 weeks (medical reasons), it took 4 days. I was in active labour for 12 hours and pushing for 1 hour (first baby). No idea if the RLT helped but I pushed him out without any assistance so it can't have done any harm.

I drank it religiously from 32 weeks and had the capsules later on, was smugly adamant that it would help with contractions. In the end I was pushing for 2.5 hours, had to have the drip to restart contractions as they slowed so much and ended up having forceps delivery. So in my experience, as annoying as it is to admit, it was completely useless Hmm

However I was clearly unlucky, I do know of 3 midwives who have recommended it to me/friends so it could still work for others, just not guaranteed!

I drank it daily from 35 weeks, DS arrived at 38+5 after being in established labour for 47 minutes and pushing for 12 minutes. No idea if the raspberry leaf tea contributed to that or not!

I drank it and ended up with a 29 hour labour (first contraction to baby arriving). However, all contractions were strong and final stages were fairly quick (7 to 10cm in 45 mins) and pushing for an hour so maybe it helped!

I also really liked the tea!

The tea is yummy anyway like you said! :)
