I had some brown spotting a few weeks ago and bad backache and was referred to epu which showed all was fine. Now have it again and a few days ago I had horrendous back pain (so bad I had to stay in bed) anyway...I have been referred to a emergency doctor later this evening so he can assess and refer to epu if he deems necessary (from ringing 111) anyone else had the same thing on a weekend?? I'm just wondering if he'll even be able to book me in if they're closed? I know I won't be seen on the weekend but an appointment in future would be nice...help stop limbo feeling. Anyone else had the same? And what did doc do?? Thanks

I've been to epu a few times and I'm sure being a weekend won't matter

I ended up with an ovarian cyst early on and went to hospital in an ambulance (!) and was scanned on Friday and Saturday.

BrewThanks Hope you get good news. The waiting is horrific.

Just wanted to say I am sorry you are having this, and although I was further along in my first pregnancy I had brown spotting for a month. The result of that pregnancy is now a strapping 14 yr old, so it doesn't always mean the worst…. I hope someone will be along soon who has experience of earlier pregnancy bleeding ..xx

Ps meant to say even if epu closed they'll have a scanner somewhere else that they will use.

Thanks guys. Fx they will book me in/scan me that would be good. I had spotting with dd and she's okay and this one early on so I'm trying to be hopeful but it's difficult isn't it.

Brown blood is old blood so shouldn't be an issue.

I had a HUGE bleed at 15 weeks - literally stood in a pool of blood. DS (now a huge 1 year old) was completely fine, they had no idea what caused it.

Didn't mean to say that twice...

But should have added that it happened late at night. I went to A&E where they examined and scanned me. They wouldn't see me in maternity as I wasn't 16 weeks.

Owlysims · 25/01/2014 13:47

Fx they may scan me there and then then my appointment is at the out of hours service at the hospital.

At hospital, I've had internal and cervix is closed no red blood so that's good news initially. They are arranging a scan for me either tomorrow or Monday. But having to wait as had to have bloods taken as have high blood pressure and temperature so need to see if all okay with bloods to assess if I can go home keep fingers crossed for me ladies!
