So I just found out today I'm preggers

I'm married near 2 years, I am 34 years old hubby is 36.

We do want a family and had thought this year would be our year for maybe trying , we were away for new year.

When away we thought ok let's try, so for two days had unprotected sex, then decided no let's wait till the end of 2014 start of 2015 as by then we will have bought our own house.

Well my period was due on 21st and it's never been late. Yesterday I was worried today first thing I went chemist and got a test

Bam - preggers....

Managed to get a doc appoint this after noon and she confirmed it

I'm in shock

I'm older, hubby a 20 a day smoker and got pregnant after only two attempts - we thought it would take a year or so.

Told I'm due 29th Sept

Gosh I feel terrified , not sure why just such a shock I think.

Anyway just looking for moral support it's not as scary as I think it is

Chottie · 24/01/2014 20:50

Congratulations - I think you need a little birds and bees chat if you were so surprised :)

mrsg3123 · 24/01/2014 20:50

Very scarey but its the best thing that will ever happen to you good luck and congratulations

Daytona79 · 24/01/2014 20:51

Ha ha I just never thought it would happen after just 2 unprotected sex, I thought at my age and with him being a smoker it would take ages. Even into a year or two.

Congratulations :-)

We had something fairly similar we had tried to conceive a few yrs ago with no luck due to contraception (even tho i had stopped taking it) so put it on hold then last yr decided to come off contraception to get my body bck to normal totry this year 2014 but bam fell pg within weeks we cldnt believe it. My dp didnt even hve a job so it was pretty scary and overwhelming but he has a job now and we r due in six weeks Smile

Sometimes its just right!

LastOneDancing · 24/01/2014 21:03

Isn't it amazing though?! You spend all that time trying NOT to get knocked up, seeing everyone else having 'accidents' and you think
'two little shags won't do it...' and then bam - you're up the duff! And you and DH have made a whole other person!

Im 34 and 30 weeks with our first - we thought we'd be trying for ages so when we caught after a halfhearted try was a surprise.

It's been scary but marvellous so far. The first 12 weeks was quite shit with feeling sick and waiting for the scan, but the second trimester has been fab Smile

ZingSweetApple · 24/01/2014 21:39

congrats!Thanks

it's always a shock at first!

(DS3 & DS5 were both one timers!)

you can't believe it when it's a BFN, again and it's even harder to believe when you finally or out of the blue get a BFP!
but then you have 8 months to get used to the idea.
It's ok that you feel scared. everybody does!
but you'll be ok. I promise you!Smile

We got told my Partner only had 2% normal sperm and it would be very hard to concieve.. Both pregnancies I concieved by having unprotected sex ONCE! Crazy isn't it.. how it cab happen so quickly :-).

Best of luck!

Daytona79 · 24/01/2014 22:32

Yup totally crazy... Guess I was naive to think that it could not happen so quickly

As someone said it only takes once

I've been having cramps in tummy past few days like period pains , docs said its normal.

Congratulations! There is never a 'perfect time' and the silly thing is if you had waited another year and planned it out you may not have fallen pregnant as quickly! Finding out you are pregnant is often a shock/exciting/terrifying or all those things at the same time! Just embrace it and enjoy your pregnancy, mumsnet is great for support at every stage too Smile

LePetitPont · 25/01/2014 07:57

If it helps, I was in total shock when i got a bfp - and we'd been trying for 6 months! So can only imagine how such an immediate fall on would be - we had lots of thoughts arond why bother with contraception for the past 12 years...!

Good luck, hope you are feeling ok :)

Wishfulmakeupping · 25/01/2014 08:06

Congratulations. I was so scared and nervous too when I found out but my dd is nearly a year old and I can honestly say I'm the happiest I've ever been its amazing :)

callamia · 25/01/2014 08:09

Congrats! That was my due date last year :)
It's all terrifying and great by turns, but by next Christmas you'll have a new member of your family.
