40 weeks, elevated BP and protein in urine

I have been to see my midwife today for a sweep and she checks my BP etc. as usual

I have been sent across to the hospital day unit for observation - I have 3 pluses of protein in my urine and an elevated BP of 130/92 )this is quite high for me as a usual top reading would be around 95/100).

Anyone else had this? My first thought was pre-eclampsia but I don't have any other symptoms and I had expected to have avoided anything like that at this stage in my pregnancy.

My bloods have just came back there and the midwife said that my "liver and kidney results are a bit wonky" - just waiting on the doctor coming

they will prob want to induce (non medical opinion just thinking at 40 weeks and with protein) good luck and hope you are soon holding your baby Grin

I was so against induction before but now I'm
Here and that may possibly be an option, I'm delighted!!! Hopefully the doctor won't be too long, she is just in delivery at the moment.

It happened to me in second pregnancy at 37 weeks. I was admitted for observation and when Bp stayed high I was put on medication.

I was released and re-admitted several times but not induced. Went into labour naturally at 40 weeks and 3 days.

At 40 weeks I'd say if BP doesn't go down with rest they will probably induce.

How are you feeling?

babsie007 · 23/01/2014 22:05

Hi purpleminion, I'm actually feeling fine. I've had no headaches etc but my bp is still up so doctor came round and suggested that really with being 40 weeks, it's best that we just get things going so I have been admitted.

Staying in tonight, then tomorrow I will have the suppository that gets my cervix ready (sorry I don't know the name of it) and Saturday first thing they will get me to delivery, get the drop going and break my waters.

A little nervous I guess as I know the pain can be worse when you are induced, but so pleased at the same time to be getting my baby girl out!!!

Best of luck babs. I'm sure they'll look after you and now you can relax and looking forward to meeting your little one.

I can't wait!! Although I had resigned myself to the fact that she wouldn't be here until Saturday at the earliest. Apparently that isn't the case..

If the pessary/ies work, my labour could start tomorrow and a drip may not be required. Exciting to know that she could be here tomorrow!! Grin

I hope I'm still here to tell the tale... I currently feel like the hospital is trying to kill me with heat...
