Been to midwives this morning and I am 33+2 days, have been measuring big throughout but today she measured me to be 38 weeks so is sending me for a growth scan tomorrow. Has anyone else been in same situation, slightly worried as she when I asked about it she said possible about being too much fluid around baby. X

I've had the same, had a growth scan at 35 weeks. I had normal fluid levels just a massive baby. They did a GD test as well but negative so think I just grow them big.

I have another scan on Monday (37+3) to see how much more he's grown and talk through the birth plan etc.

Don't worry too much about it, it could be a bit too much fluid or a big baby or a bit of both but its good you're being scanned and big is better than too small (my consultant says).

i agree with pinkbell. when you go for the scan, be vague about why you are there. measurements can vary depending on what the baby is doing (eg womb breathing makes ac bigger) & sometimes sonographerssee what they think they are looking for!

I asked the midwife who isnt my normal midwife about the fluid she then told me that it could be a problem with babys esophagus not swallowing so that has sent me into panic mode too. Husbands first child weighed 9pound 6 so hopefully just a big boy !

try not to panic; tape measure method is far from exact science and even growth scans can be out.chances are that everything is perfect; oftenyou just look big and fluids normal, babys normal and you will just get that bit of reassurance.

I measured 53cm at term, no GD no excess fluid! Had 8lb. 8oz baby. Midwife thought it would be over 10lbs, dont worry scans can be wrong
