Im 31 weeks and have gone with pampers. 1. Because I'm trusting a well known brand (I know, I know they're plenty of cheaper brands but I want one that's been about a while) and 2. Both dh and I have sensitive skin so we have opted for the pampers sensitive nappies. Now from looking at the sizes, the 1's & 2's don't have much difference in size. I only have about 40 size 1's but bought 4 packs of size 2's yesterday in kiddicare. Is there a huge difference?!

DD was 8 lbs 1 oz and was in size 1 Pampers for a few weeks. I even had to turn down the top of them to start with! Then she wore size 2 for ages. I remember being pissed off that size 3 weren't New Baby but Baby Dry, which wasn't nearly as absorbent, meaning her explosive poos leaked everywhere until she was on some solids at six months. So she must have been in size 3 by around three months old, I guess.

Four packs of size 2s will be fine, and yeh, they're definitely bigger than size 1s!

My ds is 7 weeks and has just gone into size 3. He weighs approx 5kg now and size 2 go up to 6kg but they started leaking. We use asda little angels. Pampers gave him awful nappy rash that bled, the mesh top used to stick to his skin.

My DD is two weeks old and already on pampers stage 3 nappies, but then she was 8lb 7 when she was born. Stage 2 do still fit her but I felt they were a bit tight around the tops of her legs. I wouldn't buy masses of any one size though, you really have no way of knowing how big they will be,a few packs of one or two different sizes then stocking up when you know what size bump needs is your best bet.

Nothing to add about sizes but its worth shopping around to get the best price for nappies, you might end up paying over the odds at kiddicare

DS was 7 pound 12 but was into size 2 by 3 weeks and size 3 by 8 weeks. He's now 14 weeks and wearing size 3+ but I think I need to buy size 4. He seems to grow out of them so quickly!

yellowsnownoteatwillyou · 23/01/2014 09:54

That sounds fine amounts, my ds did jump on size 2s quite quickly and at 6 months is on size 4s.
We didn't get on with pampers as they don't fit his bum right and leak no matter what size he is in, its a thing you learn as you go a long, we use asda little Angels comfort fit and have done since he was 12 weeks, for him best and have never leaked.
Morrisons seem to fit small on him and I hated Huggies as found they leaked as well.
Try different brands you will find the one you like the best.

I had loads of size1 when my dd was born but they were way too big had send dh out to find a smaller size which was pampers micro baby but as she grew it was the round the leg fit which got tight really fast even though she was a lot lighter than the weights on the packet and ended up in size 3 for ages. We found huggies were the best but they dont make them anymore so we ise pampers baby dry mostly the best for keeping bum rash away

Don't worry about how many of each you get as supermarkets will swap them. You just have to remember to make a decision about moving up a size before you open the next pack, you'll be suprised how long a pack lasts when they don't really fit properly and your trying to use them up.

I didn't even bother with size 1s, just bought size 2s. Thought unless DD was tiny then 2s would be fine. She was 7lb 13 and fit size 2 for a few weeks then size three new baby, then size 3 baby dry which go up bigger than the size 3 new baby. She's now 14 months and has been in size 4 for ages and I imagine for a lot time yet
