Any chance she'll be early?

I'm currently 35+4 and getting pretty fed up with being pregnant. I want to get this show on the road. Everyone I know seems to have been really over due or induced at 2 weeks over. I was just wondering if anyone had their first baby early, or at least on time? Probably just wishful thinking...

She'll come when she's ready. Full term is between 37 and 42 weeks so you've got between 10 days and 6 weeks to go probably. I can't narrow it down more than that!

Are there certain aspects of pregnancy you're struggling with? Could you find ways to make them easier?

My first arrived at 38 weeks btw. Second at 37 weeks.

The closer she is to her due date, the lower the chance that there will be any complications and need for a longer hospital stay, when she is born. The last month or so of pregnancy is blooming uncomfortable, but not as draining as a poorly newborn.

Hi Fred, I was also dreading having to be induced with my DS (first baby) he obligingly arrived at 39+4 Smile I have to admit I was drinking raspberry leaf, taking evening primrose and putting clary sage oil in the bath so don't know if any of these helped!!

MintChocAddict · 22/01/2014 10:41

Hmm What ouryve said
I had first baby early and a very worrying and emotional stay in special care.
Be careful what you wish for. Have a read of the premature birth thread and thank your lucky stars if yours stays put for a bit longer.

My first was a day early. Perfect timing Smile

Now 29 weeks with dc2 so hoping this one will be similar

Frizz1986 · 22/01/2014 13:23

My first was born on xmas eve at 37 + 4. We were allowed home with no issues but she then became very jaundiced so had to return to hospital for an overnight stay which was hard.
Don't wish baby to arrive too soon, she'll come when she is fully cooked.

I don't mean to be insensitive to people who have had the experience of a premature baby. I understand how serious and stressful it can be. I was 4 weeks early myself and was under 6 lbs and jaundiced. Very stressful for my mum, who was also quite poorly. It's just that everyone I know who is my age seems to have gone quite far over! Just wondered how common that was for first timers so good to hear a few people had on time babies!

My first was five days early. Took me by surprise as everyone told me first babies are usually late.

Funnily enough, out of me & my four sisters in law, all of our first babies were a few days early.

YippeeKiYayMakkaPakka · 22/01/2014 14:47

DD1 was born at 40+2.

I remember how frustrating it is, those final weeks when you're just waiting and wondering, and you're big and uncomfortable and you just want it to be OVER. Are you still working? Try to keep busy, take your mind off it (not easy, I know) Thanks

FredFlintstonesSister · 22/01/2014 14:56

I don't start my maternity leave until next week. This might well be why I'm getting so impatient! Some days I enjoy being pregnant at at other times I think " what if I have to do this for another 6 weeks or so? " I think you get so focused on the due date and then freak out a little when you realise it might not happen till 2 weeks later!

dd1 - 39 + 6.

dd2 - 40 + 5

dd3 - 39 + 5 and still no sign.

You just don't know. Just because its your first doesn't mean baby will come late, same as this being my 3rd doesn't mean she'll come early (which she clearly hasn't Grin )

Nothing you can do but wait sorry to say.

Purplelooby · 22/01/2014 22:51

DC1 was 38 + 5

But... neither I nor DS were ready for him to be born and I won't give the awful details but I'm PG with DC2 and praying for her to be late or at least on time.

SicknSpan · 23/01/2014 08:51

Ds1 38+5, 8lbs exactly
Ds2 38+3, 8lbs 11oz

So both were ready and nicely cooked! DC3 due in May and I am hoping (but not really expecting) that this one will be in a similar hurry.

It's so frustrating being near the end but with nothing happening isn't it. Hang on in there, just so annoying that when you are ready and when the baby is ready are usually totally different dates :)

SaucyJack · 23/01/2014 09:48

35+1 here. Sick to the backteeth of pregnancy now. You have my sympathy.

spritesoright · 23/01/2014 09:56

DD1 was 39 weeks when my waters broke. Unfortunately that didn't kickstart me into full labour soon enough thereafter so they had to 'augment' the contractions with syntocin (awful stuff).

Now waiting for DD2 to show up at 37 weeks... I feel your pain.

Come on baby!

elliejjtiny · 23/01/2014 11:06

DC1 was born at 41+4. DC4 was born at 35+3 and spent 4 weeks in NICU/SCBU. A few days before DC4 was born I started a thread very similar to yours. I had extra fluid, was massive (measuring 50 weeks) and so uncomfortable. This time I'd rather be overdue though.

Nahmate · 23/01/2014 11:34

Ds1 40wks (was 39 + 4 but I had the longest labour ever!!)
Ds2 38wks
dd 39 wks

I'm guessing no.4 will be around the same but you never know. This one will probably be late. They like to keep us guessing!

It's a case of wait and see sorry!
