I'll be moving house soon: when I'm about 8/9 weeks pregnant. This means I'll also have to sign upto a new doctors which can take time as I'll need to wait for bills etc as proof of address. Should I see my current doctor before moving? Or will it be a waste of time? What if they send scan appointment letters to my old address? Don't know what to do! Any advice appreciated :)

I've never had to show proof of address when changing dr's surgeries Confused

If you're staying in the same area I'd book in prior to moving. If not I'd try to get the phone number for the community midwives where you're moving to and see if they can arrange your booking appointment prior to you moving.

I'm moving at 10+2 and I had my booking appointment last week at 8+1 at my current GPs. Like you, I wasn't sure how long it would take to get the all important utility bill at my new address and therefore how long it would take to sign up at the new GP.

The midwife said it was fine, but I had to have my bloods done at the hospital so the new midwife team would be able to access them.

The scan letter will hopefully arrive before I've moved (they said it takes up to 2 weeks to come through), but if not I've registered a change of address with Royal Mail anyway so should still get it.

Probably would be worth asking your GP and the GP you will be moving to, it can hugely vary as to how things are done in each area and even between gp surgeries.

Thanks for all of your advice, I'll call both docs and see what they think: I'm probably worrying over nothing! Smile
