Brown discharge (sorry)

I had an early scan at about 8 weeks because I was getting a brown discharge which lasted for about a week. Some days just a little, odd day nothing, another day slightly more. It did stop and all was ok at my scan.
I'm now getting it again but I'm due my scan on Thursday (13 weeks) so I'm just going to wait till then to see what's going on.
I was just wondering if anyone else was experiencing this too? I'm wondering if it's to do with my cycle as I'm normally due my period around now and it happened around the same time last month. I'm trying not to worry myself about it. I'm the kind of person who thinks "what will be will be" as it's all out of our hands on whether things will be ok or not. This is my first pregnancy so it's all new to me :)

You've got my empathy. I've had brown discharge today too (at 6+5) and have to admit I'm freaking out (partly because I had a chemical pregnancy at four weeks just before this pregnancy). I'll be going to the Early Pregnancy Unit first thing tomorrow to get checked out.

From what I've heard/read, brown blood is better than red blood, and could be nothing, especially if you've got no cramping/pain (which I haven't). But it could still be an indicator of MC or ectopic, so it's best to get it checked out.

In any case, good luck, and try to stay positive.

Thanks for reply. I hope all will be ok with you too. I'm not experiencing any pain or discomfort at all and there's only some there when I wipe. No leakage or none in my urine. Fingers crossed for us both then. It's awful when there's nothing you can do, just a waiting game too :(

I had brighter discharge at 5 + 8 weeks that was checked out at EPU and everything was fine.

Then I had more brown discharge before Christmas that sounds exactly like yours, just a bit when I wipe, lasts for a day or two, then stops.

My midwife thinks I may have cervical erosion, but apart from extended sicknotes and advise to take it easy I've had no further examinations so I don't know what the actual problem is! I'm 21 weeks along and baby is doing well, though, so I've just been advised to keep an eye on things.

I had red blood early on in my pregnancy about 6 weeks and again at 9 weeks which was nothing and could have been because of cervical erosion I also had brown blood at 14 weeks i had a scan and they couldn't see anything wrong and said it was either cervix or at the time my placenta was low. Sometimes tiny blood vessels on the placenta burst and because it was so low it comes out.

I got checked out at the EPU today, and everything was fine. More than fine, in fact - I'm 6+3 with identical twins! Now that is a subject for a whole other thread.

i had a few spots of brown blood at 7 weeks. had a scan at the epu and all looked fine. today (9 weeks) i've just noticed a smudge of light brown (def not pink) discharge on my underwear. i don't feel like work will be very ok with me going to the hospital again (i'm a teacher and getting time off is near impossible), and i don't think i need to, but reassurance would be good... still 4 weeks to go till my scan, it's going to be a long wait!

mssleepyhead · 20/01/2014 21:53

ps. congratulations on the twins!

Mssleepyhead I hope this might reassure you a little. My 2nd lot of discharge lasted 3days. I had my scan yesterday and everything is absolutely fine. I questioned as to why I got it again and he said its nothing to worry about. It's very common especially in the first couple of months and as long as your not getting any pain or discomfort then it's fine. Just like the first person I seen who Also said the same is that there's real no answer as to why it happens.
Kicksandgiggles a big congrats on the twins :)
