Anterior placenta- when do you feel movement?

I am 20+3 weeks pregnant with my first baby. I haven't felt any movement yet. I'm not worried. My 20 week scan looked good and baby was moving well. It also showed I have an anterior placenta. When did others with an anterior placenta start feeling movement? I can't wait for me and my DH to feel the baby move Smile

I had an anterior placenta with my first ds, I don't think I felt much until 23-25 weeks from memory and after that it was often only around the edges of the placenta. Although with your first you do feel the movements a bit later anyway as you don't realise what little kicks feel like yet.

I remember lying there at my 20 week scan watching this baby practically doing a jig but having no sensation of movement inside me. Everyone said I would be glad later as wouldn't be so disturbed at night by kicking etc!

I'm anterior and didnt feel movement for ages. Docs and midwife were quite worried and I was sent for regular monitoring.

Movement began to get detectable at 25weeks, but pattern was still quite sporadic. I would get good movement some days, then other days nothing.

Now 31weeks and movement is pretty regular and quite detectable. Can even see tummy moving up and down.

Try not to worry - or let others worry you. xxx

I am 23+1 with an anterior placenta. I started feeling what I thought were very faint movements at about 19 weeks, and am now feeling what are definite movements and kicks.

However - it took her kicking the doppler at my 21+5 appointment for me to be really sure of what I was feeling. Since then, it's been getting stronger and stronger. My OH has started to feel movement in the last few days.

Please don't worry - it'll come!

I felt it from about 20 weeks but was third baby

Think it was about 21/22 weeks for me.

What I would say is that I never felt the fluttery feeling that others had - I think the anterior placenta makes those too faint to feel. I just got a full on prod - like someone poking you with a finger in the tummy (but from the inside obviously!). After that first movement I felt him all the time.

(He's currently in the floor next too me chewing my shoe trees).

22/23 weeks for me. At 31 weeks now I can feel very strong movement, the OH has got to feel the baby move and I can see my bump move now when there is strong movement. Its not fun to wait, I remember being quite anxious that I hadn't felt anything however it does come eventually. The other week I was asked to hold a friends rabbit, so I was sat on a chair, rabbit in crook of arm and resting on the bump and the baby chooses that moment and that exact spot to do a particularly forceful kick upwards. Poor rabbit got spooked! So don't worry, yes you will feel the kicks later but other than this fluttery feeling I don't think we miss out on too much. Counting the kicks though is obviously harder.

I have an anterior placenta and am overweight, but I've felt movement from 16 weeks on - midwife also had no problem picking up baby's heartbeat from 14 weeks on.

From what I gather that's not really that common, though, but I've been told several times now that I've got a 'right character' on the way, he likes to be noticed!

I didn't feel definite movement until about 24-25 weeks with my anterior placenta! I'm now 35+5 and feeling loads!!

Sammi1986 · 19/01/2014 14:41

22 when felt first stirrings, 24 when they got more defined, 25 when OH started to feel them.
26+4 now and felt hiccups for the first time yesterday! Very odd xx
